    Bone stock...
Howdy folks! After failing to attract any buyers for my 2015 DCSB TRD OR (~20k miles), I decided to loan it to my roommate, who promptly went out and got T-boned. Some dingus in a '94 corolla decided to cross 4 lanes of oncoming traffic without looking so he could get his nails did or something... its all in the police report and 100% the other dudes fault. The Taco performed beautifully in preventing any injury to either party and if I can get State Farm (other guy's insurance) to total the truck and just write me a check, I'll be a happy man. Anybody have any idea what kind of costs would be involved in repairing this truck? I got what pictures I could in the salvage yard but it was packed in pretty tight, preliminary investigation looks like the driveshaft is broken, suspension damage in the rear, rear left wheel cocked out at a weird angle and the bed isn't aligned with the cab anymore, along with damage to just about every panel and door on the driver's side. Doesn't look like a serious wreck from the photos but the truck was sent skidding and did a few 360's based on my roommate's recounting, so maybe some more serious damage underneath.

And in case they want to repair it, anybody know a good shop in Northern VA that won't just bondo everything?

Any and all advice, speculation, commiseration, or shit-talking would be a great help.

I had some work done when the front of my frame got bent. Royal Autobody doesn't play around and has their own frame correcting machine with great painting talent. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

As far as the truck is concerned, if there isn't any frame damage and no airbag deployment then I would expect it will get fixed.

Doesn't look bad, I bet insurance tries to repair it and you're stuck.

Note to self, never let anyone drive your Tacoma.

Sorry about your accident. It looked really good stock, and surprised you didn't sell it earlier.

It appears you were asking $30K; what was the dealer offering?

Mental note to not lend my Tacoma to anyone. The less it's on the road, the less chance of some texter running into it.

Very true, considering the idiots who reside in NOVA, I need to keep this in mind as well. They are skilled at finding ways to hit people.

When people ask me to use my truck I tell them Home Depot rents pickup trucks for $20.

I used to say you can borrow my truck if I can borrow your wife/girlfriend (if they were hot). got a few "sure!" responses.

If they total it, see what the cost is to buy it back and then sell all the undamaged parts.

I thought frame damage usually means its automatically totaled?

"totaled" is a value proposition. While frame damage will certainly increase the repair cost, thus increasing the odds, it's not a given that it totals the vehicle.

If your truck is worth $30K, the insurance company will spend up to at least $20K to fix it. There's no way anybody can determine, from your pics, if the damage is more or less than $20K.

Don't let insurance company beat you or repair shop . They will want after market parts and beat down the labor rate

If insurance fixes the truck, shouldn't they also compensate OP for "loss of value" or something like that? Seems to me that 18 years ago when my Durango got rear-ended that I got some additional cash from their insurance since the thing was worth less now that it was wrecked.
