4800 dollars in hail damage before my first oil change. Didn't even bother getting it fixed. I am done worrying about dings and dents. I sleep so much better now.

I enjoy the slobs who either are dumb as a rock, or perhaps don't understand the whole gravity thing, and 'balance' their shopping carts uphill in a parking lot from other vehicles.

I always try and find an end spot and my tires literally are on top of the outside line. This usually gives me a good amount of space from the next car over, but sure enough some ass always ends up crossing into my spot and leaves like a foot between their vehicle and mine.

Correct but I spend enough time with my job dealing with the mass public. I prefer to have a little distance between them me and my stuff when I'm not being paid.

    Exactly :D

People worry too much about dents and scratches on trucks...and that's why the sport (wheeling) has degraded so much .

But yea, once you put a few scratches here and there life becomes easier from that point forward.

It just amazes me that dudes will take take time to think, plan and park their truck hundreds of feet away to protect their 5+ year old truck from a 'potential' ding. Amazing.

I don't mind small dents and scratches as long as I'm the one doing them!

Meh if you like to take care of your stuff then I don't see what it matters if it's a truck or a sports car.

It matters because of the irony of it all...especially if you own a 4wd truck. It is kind of expected that you will put scratches on them eventually when taken off road. It's inevitable. So why worry so much?

But I get it...Things have changed. It's just a totally different culture. Seriously, back in the day people would never worry about these things...and yup...even on brand new trucks. The mentality was that you bought the rig to take it off road and have fun with it.

Sure if your primary purpose is buying it as an off-roading rig then you probably won't care about dents and scratches. How many people actually buy a truck for that purpose? This forum represents a small fraction of truck buyers.

I like my truck, and I like keeping it in good shape. It's purpose is my daily driver and when I need to haul something I use it's truck capabilities. I have 4x4 because I live in Canada and it's useful in the snow. There's no irony in it.

I stopped caring so much out of a sense of practicality. It just isn't practical to keep it perfect, and you will drive yourself nuts doing it. I used to do all the calculations when parking. In the end it is just a tool. I care for it meticulously mechanically because I want it to run as long as possible, but cosmetic stuff isn't a huge deal to me any more.

Because.. this entire thread is great example of how individuals allow material possessions to control their their lives.

Maybe some people let it get out of hand, to me I'm just used to not grabbing the first parking spot I see just because it's closest to the door. If it takes an extra 30 seconds of walking then so be it, that's hardly letting something control your life.

Same story here. I need both my bumpers repainted.
I just suck it up for the most part and park in the back of the lot. Can't have nice things because of assholes.

Although this has nothing to do with buying a new truck. It sucks no matter what.

Yeah but thats negated by the paint damage caused by having exposed tires flinging shit on the outside of the truck.
