I am currently in the market for a 2010 Tacoma. I have a few questions though.

    1) Does anyone know if the body-style/options are going to differ a lot on the 2011 models?

    2) Anyone know what a fair price is for a 2010 Access Cab V6 4x2, Automatic with TRD Sports package and hitch installed? The dealer told me today that the MSRP was 28, but he could get it to me for 26. I've never shopped for a new vehicle so I am not sure what is fair and what I should be able to negotiate down to.

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the replies fellas! One other random question, I am already looking at accessories for it. Does anyone know if the back windows go down in the Access Cabs? I am wondering because I've looked at the Weathertech Window visors and was surprised that they made them for the access cab windows as well.

    Thanks in advance.

The back one doesn't go down. It just has the one little sliding square.
If you are talking on the ones on the back door. I think they just crack open maybe. They probably just make it for looks.

Thanks, I figured it was an aesthetic/for looks, type of deal but wasn't certain!

Toyota is closing the plant in California that makes Tacomas and moving it to Texas.
I don't think they would move the plant and keep the same body style.

Edmunds.com lists the Access cab you want at an invoice of $25,651.
I got my double cab long bed in January for about $800 below invoice.
I did it all online. If a dealership website shows a truck as available immediately that means they have it on the lot. You get a much better deal with one on the lot. More negotiating power. The truck I bought was 160 miles from my house but they had the one I wanted. A dealer near my house wanted me to wait 60 days till they found what I wanted and would only go $500 under invoice.

If a dealer has already given you a price of $26,000 tell him you found someone else who will go $600 below invoice and see if they can beat it.

With Toyota's reputation right now your best bet is to get on the phone and call around. You should be able to get the Access cab you want at $24,650 or better. It takes work though. Be sure to ask for 0% financing thru Toyota if you qualify. Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice. I like the sound of 24,650! I hope to get whatever financing promotions they are currently doing as I got my 2009 Corolla at 0% last year - at the time I was commuting and now just got relocated and my commute has went from 125 miles round trip to 10! Thus the reason for wanting to go from the Corolla to the Tacoma!

I am trying to sell the Corolla locally, but it looks like I may end up having to trade it in. I owe 11 and I think I can get 13 out of a trade in but was hoping for 14 or so by selling it!

Well my quest for a Tacoma has hit a small hurdle. Looks like I am going to have to wait until this weekend and visit some other dealers. After trade in (and I have equity in vehicle) we are still about 1800 apart from what I was wanting to spend and what they are giving me as a bottom line.

I have changed the one I am looking at though to a Access Cab 4 wheel drive TRD.

Check to see if your dealer has an Internet Department (stupid sounding, I know). They handle all the online sales and make a business out of high volume, low margin (low for Toyota, anyway) sales. I got mine for $2475 under sticker back in '09 way before the current crap... you should have a little bargaining room.

The access windows don't open at all. They're just there for looks. At least in my '05. I don't think that has changed in the newer models. The middle of the back window slides.

you will find where the 0% rates are on the toyota web site. there are only three areas of the states that they are running these rates i believe. i am a little ashamed of mine 5.9%. i argued for 45 minutes with the finance dept. about how they should get me the 0% cause they do it on other models, the only thing i didnt do is tell the guy no thanks. oh well, 2010 dc 4x4 offroad $28,950, is alright by me. oh and the window sticker says it comes with a 7-4 pin adapter for trailering, i had to bring this to their attention because i didnt get one, the dealer said he has never let one go with a truck before till mine

Thanks for the info, yeah I am in the Southeast and they are running 0% on the 2010 Tacomas but only on 36 months, its 2.9% on 48 months and 3.9% on 60 months. I am going to try to get it on 36 months as I hate paying interest, but the payment is going to be steep.

Thanks for the heads up on the adapter, I'll have to see if that is listed on the one I am looking at or not. I will hopefully know more tomorrow.
The 28,950 you listed, is that including tax (if applicable in your state)? I am trying to get out the door for 27000 and my trade has 2k in equity. I know they are going to have to order the truck from another location, so I am not sure if that will affect my bargaining potential?

$28,950 was just the price of the truck.

    Welcome to TW
I believe you can do better than that. Lots of good tips above, especially using the internet sales folks, very easy to get prices on vehicles that way. Someone, somewhere will give a better deal.

I guess it comes down to what is important to you. Is the truck something you want/need right now or willing to negotiate, wait possibly. I waited til end of year incentives & bought a DC 4x4 for 24500 @ 2.9. MSRP at the time was 28900.

Good luck and hope you get the best deal you can! :)

Thanks for all the great advice. Unfortunately with the current dealer it doesn't look like I am going to be able to work anything out - he was pessimistic that even if we reached a deal that he would be able to get the truck there. He stated there was only 1 in the Southeast with the options/color that I am wanting and he wasn't sure he'd be able to get the dealership that holds it to send it to them (he said they have to work out "trades" to get other dealers to send vehicles to them and then they will not do it if they have a customer already showing interest in that particular vehicle). The best price he gave me was about 1k more than what I was hoping for so I told him I'd meet in the middle on it and he said he couldn't go any lower.

I called another Toyota dealer in a surrounding area but they basically wouldn't go into any "bottom line" numbers with me over the phone with or without trade-in.

I am now thinking that I will hold off on joining the Tacoma brotherhood until the end of the year unless I find a used vehicle to purchase. I'll keep you guys updated.
