Alternate HW, Extras, etc for Prinsu

I've created this post as a way to communicate alternative hardware found for the Prinsu rack and/or where to purchase extra HW/Tslots/etc directly from the source.

SOURCE FOR BLACK STAINLESS STEEL BOLTS, NUTS, WASHER, etc

For the first post here I've put together where you can source the bolts, nuts, washers, etc in Stainless Steel and BLACK. The benefit of SS is that is doesn't rust. Any one concerned that these SS won't be as strong as the black zinc bolts that Prinsu sends for the cross bars need not worry. Prinsu's bolts only have a rated tensile strength of 60,000 PSI. The SS Black bolts below are rated at 70,000 PSI and are thus a bit stronger bolt. Neither are grade 5 or 8 in terms of strength.

Did you look for the security bolts? I was thinking about getting those.

The don't make security in SS and Black. Security bolts IMO are pointless on the cross bars as you can unbolt from the legs with a regular rachet and have off with the entire rack in one piece. I don't think any thief would take the time to unbolt every cross bar before taking.

 

Agreed. Really the only place I'll need them are the ones for the light bar.

 

Makes sense. Unfortunately I've been unable to source a security bolt that is both SS and Black....let me know if you find any and I'll add it to the first post.

I like this...

I didn't use washers on mine... so it pulled the mounting rails up a little bit where the feet are... may have to go back and fix that....

Thanks however they don't sell security screws that are both SS and Black.

 

What size you looking for? I'm using them on the rack and they are torx security screws and SS.

Those are SILVER SS, not BLACK SS. The key is finding BLACK Oxide SS bolts to match the black paint on the Prinsu

 

@perkj Can you tell me what you used to connect the smittybilt feet to your camper tracks? If you have links that would be even better. Thank you!

Thank you! I can't bring myself to spend $500 on a rack yet, so I'm putting together a bare bones "rack" using parts like the ones you're listing. It just won't have the side plates.

 

Do you recall the length of the M6 bolt used?
