KPT your truck looks awesome with those 18 x 9 wheels and tires

    Very nice choice

I will be posting agin on this thread in a week or so when my wheels and tires arrive from California

They will be going on my 05 Tacoma Pre-Runner with stock suspension

    18 x 9 wheels +12 offset 5.5 Back Space

Falken Ziex S/TZ-01 Tires 265/60/18 If anyone can suggest another tire that would be in between an All Terrain and Sport Street Tire that would be great

I can't really spend more then $125.00 tire

This thread has some good pics of the same size set-up I wanna run. He even used the same Brand & Size tires I want to get

Does anyone know if the Prerunner and the 4X4 share the same wheels? KPT's truck looks perfect, Just don't know if the wheels will fit both.

That I know, but is the backspacing the same? What i should have asked, are the wheels interchangeable? Will the backspacing be the same for the 4wd and the PRE?

Stock backspacing for both 4x4 and prerunners is 5.25-5.5", depending on which wheel you have. This backspacing is fine if you don't plan on a lift and big tires (like me). The wheels pictured in my post above have around 5.45" BS, and I'm running 265/65/18's with no issues.

If you want a lift and 285's, you will want to go with around 4.5" backspacing.

Thanks for the pics guys that was what im looking for. Cant wait for my taxes to get here to order mine, been debatin gon going with 17 or 18 but after looking at those pics I think I will go with 18s, KPT has the size and wont and still has plenty of tire for the aggressive look I wanna go with. Anyone else with pics?

    Thanks.

They are $300 a piece  and you can get them at TRDparts4u.com

I bought mine on craigslist for significantly less than that.

Well turns out those Avenue wheels are discontinued

So I went with the American Racing Element Matt Black wheels instead

I like these way better anyway..Cost a little more but I think I still got an amazing deal:D

Got everything from Steve at Inland Wheels in San Bernardino California

They are 18 x 8 and American racing is gonna custom cut a blank to make my back space 5.37"

    What do you think?

By "cut a blank" do you mean put a small wheel spacer in there? If so, you might want to look into extended thread lug nuts. The stock tacoma wheel studs are extremely short. The lugs I bought are about halfway down page. Acorn style E/T

Ok sorry I think I worded that wrong...

I never new when you order wheels that some wheels are special order
They can actually tell American Racing what vehicle it's going on and make it fit closer to the factory wheels specs

In my case the wheels I wanted had a 4.97" Back space witch would give me 12mm more inner clearance

Now my stock factory wheel is a 5.50" Back space

So what he can have them do is cut it so the backspace will be 5.37" closer to my factory wheel position on the inside

When I said (cut a blank) I really meant when they pull that wheel off the shelf at American racing it's not cut to any specific specs

They can machine it so the backspace is 5.37" not 4.97"

    Does this make better sense?

    I'm new to all this

    He said they guarantee fitment

This is what he told me

    Thanks for any info...

    265-60-18 Falken Ziex S/TZ01

UPDATE ON THE NEW WHEEL & TIRE SET-UP!

I love the look of the 18" wheels so much better then the 17" Alloys

Also The ride of the truck has improved dramatically and all for the better...

Handling is so much more responsive and no more of that squishy feel to the front end when turning

My gas mileage has pretty much stayed the same, If your thinking about 18"'s GO For IT!
