I prepped, primed, and painted my SOS Offroad Concepts sliders, skid, and streamline bumper yesterday. 6 hours of grinding, prepping, and painting. My index finger is still numb from holding the nozzle down on the spraypaint cans.

It took 5 cans of self-etching primer, 4 big cans of bedliner, and 4 cans of black spraypaint. I primed first, then did black spray on the top side of the skid and inside of the bumper. Bedliner then went on all the outer areas.

I will probably let them cure for awhile and then mount them up. I have a winch, a CB radio, $3k in Fox suspension parts, sumosprings, Clazzio seats, seatwarmers, a light bar, and other crap I'm probably forgetting waiting in the garage for install. Maybe I should make a build thread... :D

I also do not have a beard since I have been married for over 41 years and long ago my wife said that I was not going to get any if I was not clean shaven. That made the decision pretty easy. We also have 5 children but was only able to teach my 2 sons and 1 of my 3 daughters how to drive a stick shift. At least the one daughter with the good hand eye coordination to drive a stick went on to medical school and is now an eye surgeon. Most importantly, each of the 5 were taught how to load and accurately fire a hand gun.

Now back to the topic of this thread. Today I installed the vinyl stickers on my engine cover. Thanks to @rrentrop for the fast service and the ESPN to know that I would need a second Toyota symbol. The letters and numbers came with self adhesive glue but the Toyota symbol has to be attached with the water method which is a little trickier. To qoute @GHOST SHIP , ask me how I know.... never mind, just a rhetorical question. Those of you who are more observent will notice that my picture does not have the Toyota on yet. I will try again when I have a little more courage.IMG_0373.jpg

lots of soap solution and even more patience. The soap solution will keep it from sticking while you position it and it will lay flat (eventually), as you blot it with a towel and remove the moisture.

Finally got some pics uploaded from yesterday's installs.

The ARE Z-Series topper went on. Also got the N-Fab light bar mount and the 30" Black Oak LED 300w marine LED light bar on and wired plus deleted the side pocket and added a 3 switch panel with custom ch4x4 switch in.

If I can once it gets dark I'll get a pic of the light bar lit up. I played with it last night and those 33,000 lumens throw some light down the road. It's bright!

Took my truck in for my 10k service today. I just happened to notice a slight leak in the rear diff last week so i made sure that was addressed, told them I'm having a slight vibration on the interstate (just enough to rattle my 20oz drink, passenger seat and drive mine crazy and it's been addressed before because I thought it was a balancing issue) as well as mentioned that I noticed the truck staying in the lower gear a little to long climbing a few small hills on the interstate.
Overall i was pretty satisfied with them updating the software and let me look at the list of TSBs for my truck but they wouldn't address the vibration issue without charging me $110 because I have spacers (which are hub- centric) so I told them I'd take them off myself and rule that out 100%. They also considered the wet spots ok on the rear diff and just tightened the bolts down but I made sure to let him know I wasn't too happy with that decision because a truck with 8k miles shouldn't even have that problem and figured they'd just replace the gasket. He said they cleaned it off real good so they would check out next time.
If only me doing the stuff myself didn't cost money I would be avoiding the dealer as much as possible!

I experience the same hanging lower gears on small inclines on parkway. Its pretty annoying at times. And even with ever so slight speed increases, like 1-2 mph. I'm going to have them check transmission fluid, the long way at my next service.

Finally got the adhesive off. Used a heat gun to soften the adhesive and then wiped it off with goo gone and a little elbow grease. Afterwards I washed it down with soap and water. While I was at it I removed the dealer decal. Thanks everyone for the recommendations!

Glad you got it off, that stuff can be a pain. Heck yeah, that's the first thing that comes off whenever I purchase a vehicle. If they povided a good and fair service I will spread my satisfaction by word of mouth.

Yea I thought I've been pretty lucky with not having the issue but I've only been on like 3 longer hilly road trips. Granted they are like 4-600ft inclines on the interstate but what caught my attention was it running 3200rpm at the top of a couple hills when it should of went back up a gear this last trip over the weekend.

Thanks man! Yeah we are very excited. Our lil girl turns 2 on July 9th and our son is due July 8 lol. However the doctor said he predicts he will be born 5 days sooner. As of last Thursday Doc said my wife dilated 2-3cm already so we think it can be any day! I love my lil girl more than life itself but I am pumped to have a lil man on the way. Cause we r def done at 2 lol!

I hear yah. I can understand some of it with the 6 gears and 2 overdrive gears, but sometimes it takes forever to shift back after downshifting. Sometimes I'll barely be pushing the pedal from 84-85 mph and it will downshift just for that and take forever to shift back to 6 after I'm off the gas. I'll admit I'm not use to this coming from my 09 4.0 but maybe I'm low on trans fluid. Gonna schedule my service as soon as I have time and I'll report back after they check.

    Congrats!

If you keep it up you may want to invest in a short school bus.
So a recommendation to trade up for a short bus is not going to be helpful since you're done.

    Baby on the way. Congrats!
