I am amazed at how many riders actually wear earplugs. I've tried them along with my headphones and always feel uncomfortable while I ride as I cannot hear anything around me. I'm know I am in the minority when I say I refuse to wear earplugs while I ride, but I take into account that I lost >40% of my hearing in the military.

What can't you hear around you? and having already lost 40% should be a bigger reason to wear ear plugs, unless your looking to lose the other 60%.

Wear them for a couple of weeks and I'm sure you'll get used to them. It really isn't that big of a deal, plus with time all that "uncomfortable feeling" without being able to hear around you, it wont matter anymore

I cannot hear the vehicles around me or the or the sounds that my bike makes. I know exactly how my bike sounds and if somethings off, I want to be able to hear it. Also if you cannot hear a vehicle honk at you while riding, I think that is more concerning then any possible hearing loss I may incur over time. But this is just my opinion that suits me and am in no way trying to convince someone else to not wear ear plugs.

I also refuse to wear them while i ride.

I just need a helmet that breathes, but has almost zero wind noise. Doubtful that exists

Now that I war earplugs on the FZ-07 I can never go back. I can just feel myself losing my hearing if I don't haha

I guess since my "earplugs" aren't just earplugs they block less sound than traditional ones. Mine are the earplugs with headphones in them and they block quite a bit of noise but I can always tell when a vehicle is near me or honking. No more muffled than if you were sitting inside a car or something.

When I bought the bike it was previously wreck and the aftermarket fairings were a little beat up and cracked in a few spots. Instead of spending $500 on fairings I decided I would repair and paint these ones. I've always enjoyed body work and painting my own stuff and it would save my a few shekles.

After I fiber glassed, sanded and prepped the repair spots, I sanded all the pieces with 80 grit to removed the previous paint and the sanded out the 80 grit scratches with 150 grit sand paper. Used a prep-all style wax and grease remover to removal all dirt, dust and skin oils. I then used a MP180 2k sealer, the reason being after speaking with a couple automotive body professionals, they suggested it over a filler sand-able primer being if there were any light spots where the plastic material was exposed the reaction wouldn't be as predictable during the drying process.

So I sealed the plastics and let that dry. The paint process I was going to be doing is a 3 stage because of the House of Kolor Chartreuse yellow. It needed a white base under it because the yellow is so transparent. After sealing I proceeded to spray the white in the area's I knew I wanted to be yellow. 25-30 minutes after the white was laid on I proceeded to mix and spray the yellow. I laid four coats of yellow per HOK recommendations. I let the yellow sit over night to cure thoroughly as I didn't want it to peal up with the masking removal.

The next morning I masked out the design and once I was please with the masking I sprayed the black down. A half hour after the black was complete I removed the masking and inspected the lines. All in all I was please so I moved forward with the clear coat.

This was all done in a temperature controlled paint booth I had access to. The only issues I ran in to were the white and black base coats cracking as they dried. I wet sanded the areas and resprayed the areas with no further issues but it was strange as I have not had those issues in the past. I thought it was the paint brand I was using, Omni, but the body guy whose booth I was using uses Omni paint all the time with no issues.

Put the OEM bulbs back in. Did not feel like diagnosing the problem with the Nokya's. I will miss standing out though, the yellow lights really got people's attention. Maybe later I'll get some PIAA yellows.

I agree. When you have earplugs in, that doesn't mean you just won't "hear stuff". Your hearing becomes more sensitive, like a blind guy hears really well. That is our brain telling us to adjust our internal volume to be more sensitive. But guess what? No hearing loss either. I can hear my bike and honking horns and stuff just fine.

Won't regret it. It runs a lot hotter than a dirt helmet though by design.

You guys who say you can't hear anything around you with earplugs are either wearing ballistic level earplugs or have already fucked your hearing too much. I use old school foam plugs and can hear everything around me just fine, all it does is block the stupid wind noise. I have heard things wrong with my bike, horns, and people talking just fine, all with earplugs in.

Hearing is something you don't get back and one of the most important senses, no way I'm risking it so I can hear my super cool exhaust better.

I don't mind wearing them other then I wear them alot for work and get black heads in my ear. Damn those hurt.
But the helmet I usually ride is not really legit so I need to upgrade anyways.
