I'm thinking about building my own roof rack out of steel pipe and mounting it to my camper. I just need to find a welder. I would like to add hooks and weld the crossings together. Anyone know someone in the Nashville area?

 

If you can't weld, have you considered something like this? Really enjoyed mine on the last truck. Just a thought.

Got a pair of weatherproof boxes to recess between rails.
Jack and compressor fit in one for easier access. Don't like idea of removing kids carseats on side of road to get to those if i have tire to fix.

Not sure what i'll put in other box but needed it for symmetry.

I just wonder how I'm gonna pull it off without the OEM side tracks and a way that WON'T jack up the paint, or any metal work (i.e. how to reliably fasten it to the roof)
