02 taco lift

i have a 02 tacoma and want to put a lift on it. i can afford the 6" lifts so im thinking about the 3" toytec. but i know nothing about lifts and i need some advice on what to get. i want the most lift and best quality for the least price lol which im sure everyone else does too.

 

I'm pretty sure everyone will agree that Bilstein's Adjustable shocks will be the best route. You can set them to 2.5" in the front and then get an Add a leaf in the back. They are like $300 from Downsouth Motorsports...Only reason I don't have them yet is because I'm on the waiting list! More shipments come in next week!

 

you dont have to get coilovers? What about the ome from toytec?

 

the 5100's replace your stock shocks and re-use the stock coilspring. you still have a coilover on the truck, just different shocks. OME kits are nice and very popular, i have no personal experiance however.

 

What is your budget?

But like some already said: the Bilstein Adjustable shocks are in that sweet spot of performance and budget in the front. For the rear do an add-a-leaf (AAL) and some aftermarket shock... Bilstein or the like.

 

Which 3" kit were you looking at?

 

i have been doing some research on the ome lift and the ultimate lift. the ome lift is more in my budget. both lifts level it out with two in the back and 3 in the front. what is the best way to get the full 3" in the front and back? the billys will only go to 2.5 correct?

what about the ome lift with 1 inch blocks because i dont like the sagging when pulling something. ive heard stay away from blocks though.

 

Thats exactly what I did.. Got the 1" block in the rear bc of loads and what not. But the ride quality didnt change much at all. I really dont think a 1" block in the rear is ganna effect your springs much.
And the OME lift is a great lift, it rides great and performs well. And the price isnt to shabby..
Def. get 5100's or OME shocks for the rear though.

 

i think ill go with that. i really like the looks of urs evertaco. mine is a silver 02 like urs except mine is the extcab.

Correct, the Billy's alone will give you 2.5 inch's in the front while reusing the stock coil. Which means you will be back in there replacing your stock spring at some point soon down the road!

If you go with the OME, I would replace both the shock and the coil for the best ride and lift. This way you can get your full 3 inches up front, but to keep the back level with the front, the standard AAL will get you that. You would only want to add a 1" block if you want 3" in the back.

do you mean without doing the UCA's?

If so, yeah you'll be fine, just get an allignment done and you probably wont even need the new UCA's.

 

the UCAs arent really a must but more of a luxury. you can get the alignment to come pretty close to spec if not exact
