We'll always use our headlamps, but want to shed a little more light around the tailgate/kitchen/cocktail prep area. Got a couple BD headlamps as well.

    Mostly stuff I built.

Yeah you might loose some "cool" points for Walmart camping gear but you can get 2 for the price of 1. Some times less is more. I am pretty sure that they are made in the same factory.

Nothing wrong with Walmart brand gear. If someone wants to judge me for saving a few bucks then oh well. Got a lantern that's a little different than this one from there and have used it for the past few years.

Got to post your dog's picture on the "Funny Pictures" thread. Did he take a whizz on the bear carving?

Met up with a friend doing an overlanding trip across Oregon, for those interested. He hasn't posted anything yet, there's almost 1TB of raw video and photo he needs to sift through. But there will be some good stuff of his adventure across Oregon's back country. Anyways I met up with him on his last couple days out from the northern rogue valley across to gold beach taking as many back roads as possible. I was looking forward to testing out my solar system and fridge. It's currently temporary attached to the roof via straps.

The day started off hot. The valley floor was a scorching 106F with the start of the BLM roads being 103F. Although the closer we got to the coast the (obviously and thankfully) cooler it got.

First camp site was in the middle of nowhere. We found a good access road that led to a nice open and level area. Around midnight the sky opened up with a volley of thunder and lightening and some rain. I found a small flaw in the rack over the softopper that had a few gaps just small enough to let some rain in. I'll be fixing that later. But a tarp temporally fixed the problem, never travel without one.

That morning after packing up the cool coastal air started mixing with the dry valley air leading to beautiful rolling fog that made for some incredible vistas.

Made it to the coast and had some fun in the sand.

Second campsite was a bit more established at miller bar off the Chetco River outside of Brookings, with a lot more paved roads.

out of bend hooked my buddy up with a bunch of refreshments. Who's to complain about free drinks, not this guy.

I have a Black Diamond headlamp, highly recommended. Back in the old days we used out carbide lamps hiking at night and caving.

Yep my thoughts exactly just maybe lost in translation. I'm all about saving if I can that's why I build so much of my own stuff.

Thanks. I'm very lucky to live where I do. Within a days drive there's a near endless array of trails and opportunities to just go out into the woods and explore. If I go toward the east I'll be in beautiful high desert, to the west coastal ranges, to the south old growth redwood. It's just phenomenal.

We camp year round. A couple times a month. The places we go are sometimes weather-dependent. But seeing all y'all out camping right now is killing me! We leave tomorrow for 6 days on the eastern Sierra because Tioga Road across Yosemite opens up at 0800!!
There's just something about that area that just calls us back to it.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's Fourth of July camping photos!!

So you can see a lantern 4.5 miles away?

I bet you're a blast to camp with

is there disperse camping in Yosemite? I was near there a few days ago, but given how many people were in the Lake Tahoe area, I figured it was full up.

Whatev. Lights are annoying AF. There's so much more seen when they are out/off.

I promise the monsters won't get you if you turn yours off.
