The one that is at mesa gateway is a modified DC10 with large doors on the belly to drop the agent. There are a number of them across the country. I use to load those jets awhile back.

Didn't realize someone posted about it already! Still a pretty large aircraft, with a hefty payload.

I hope all of y'all stay safe out there. I have a brother out there, but he is in the valley. He sold his place up that way several years ago.

I always hated how smoke would settle into Flagstaff when I lived there, especially during controlled burns.

    Nothing noteworthy
The winds are going to tell the tale today. We are forecast to have steady double-digit wind with 20-25 mph gusts today. I watched what the wind did to this fire yesterday. It was nuts.

Fuck, my buddy is in Dewey and is on Pre evacuation. Said that the fire isn't far from him at all. Hopefully the crews get some kind of handle on this today.

sucks man. I've lived through evacuations when I lived back in Nevada so I genuinely feel for all of these people. My parents house nearly burned down a few years ago. Had it not been for a neighbor of theirs who owns one of Nevada's largest commercial consturction companies, they surely would have lost everything. Guy dispatched every water truck he had, a couple dozen of them and paid them time and a half to just drive up and down all of the streets spraying until they were empty. Guy saved a lot of houses!

    yeah... :(

They have created a barrier around Mayer, using Bulldozers to clear brush and continue to drop retardant around the perimeter of Mayer. winds are pushing it towards the Dewey and into Poland Junction. Dewey is on evacuation.
