How is the power consumption on 12v on these?
I'll be running a 2 battery bank on my trailer with 1-200w solar system. Common trip for us is 7 days on the coast 70 miles civilization sucks to go back and get ice. Y'all think that will be sufficient?

    Mmm. Lysteria flavored.
    :p

Actually, ever since all that happened I switched to Ben and Jerry's for a bit. Then stopped eating ice cream as much.

Brisket as in the front lower chunk of cow meat? Or does Texas have a special way of preparing it?

Gotcha. So when you guys say "brisket" you mean BBQ'd brisket which I gather is a popular dish in Texas. Now that I get it, it looks like slices of that would make for a tasty lunch. On a bun/sandwich/garlic toast, or just sliced up on its own? Thanks for filling me in.

It's already sliced. We'll buy some pickles, onions, buns and sauce to make into sandwiches. Can either keep as slices or chop it up.

Way better tasting than lunch meat IMO. :)

Consumption isn't bad. With the double battery and solar you should be good. It should work perfect.

Do you drive around during the day or are you parked 7 days straight?

I guess with solar wouldn't matter. I have a similar fridge and only a single stock size battery and it's fine for ~24hrs without charging. It should be okay for a long weekend, but I've never tested it for that long.

    Never enough
If anyone out there is looking for a hammock I'd like to direct you all to Hobo Hammocks (underlined text is a link). I recently just purchased a hammock from them and can't say enough good things about them. For one they donate a meal to the homeless for every hammock they sell, pretty awesome if you ask me. Second, their hammocks come with the hanging straps (10 ft each) and carabiners that other companies charge $20-$40 for. Last, they ship for free and ship quickly. I received mine in under a week from when I ordered. Since I got mine I have slept in it for 2 nights here in the mountains of Colorado and plan to use it more this summer. Overall I think they provide the best value of any hammock brand I have heard of so I wanted to share my experience with you all.

**Full disclosure: I would make a few bucks if you order your hammock through the link I provided above. If this is not allowed Mods feel free to nuke my post**

Either way give these guys a look!

Not as much as people think it does. It's true that food stored at colder temps will last longer, but most food is hardly "dangerous" to store at 50* for a week or 2 (except maybe sushi..., lol). For your average long weekend or week long trip, your food will be perfectly fine at 50*. If you're out on the road/trail for months at a time, yeah, you'll need colder storage.

That's really my only point. I wasn't defending the quality of that cheap-o cooler, just noting that the temps at which food is stored is not nearly as important as the guys trying to sell you an $800+ 12v fridge tell you it is.

For me, the cost/benefit just isn't there (yet); I'm a cheap bastard, and I don't need the added timeline for food preservation (multiple weeks) that the colder temps get you.

Like you say, they are a super cool convenience item, and if my in-laws are looking for a birthday present, I wouldn't say no to one... :)

I love my fridge. goes in the truck for camping/offroading. Goes in the van when its a motorcycle trackday/race weekend. And if its not doing any of those, its plugged in in the garage keeping my beers, coconut waters and gatorades cold. Our home fridge is already packed since i have three other roommates. Helps keep my beer to myself :D

I have the Indel-B 51 fridge, and its been everywhere with me. Mojave road, Joshua tree, Big bear, Mammoth, Canyonlands, Moab, , Zion, etc. I use it with just my stock battery it'll last atleast 2 full days before shutting itself off. Yes, it has a switch that will turn off the fridge if the battery gets too low. I think the options are 12.6, 12.2, and 11.6 or something like that. I also picked up a portable battery jumper just in case too.
