I had to do an adult thing today that made me sad.
Today I had to fill in the trench in my back yard that I started digging at eight years old so I could reenact the Battle of the Crater. (June 30, 1864.) At it's proudest point, the trench was some four foot deep, all of the dirt dug from the center piled on the front and back. Four feet was enough to conceal a standing Fenwick for many years. Over the years, the walls had eroded to where it stood maybe two feet deep, and today I had to fill it back in.
Oh, good times were had. Lots of memories.
