How many wires are on the 99 4runner cruise control? Your 99 Tacoma should have had 3. I'm 100% sure that there are 3 wire 4 spoke steering wheels with 3 wire set ups. I was thinking that the 99 4runner was one.

I don't have the space to keep old drivetrains laying around. I know mine is good, plus driving an auto 4cyl might be the worst thing I've ever experienced. It's like waiting for your truck to load but with 56k dialup.

Enough with a manual, should feel a lot better with the 4.10 gears this thing has.

I found my cab leak today. Coming in through the driver side firewall grommet. I know I could glob some silicone on it, but that would make it difficult the next time I need to run i wire through. I thought about making some kind of half-circle shaped "hat" to shield the opening from above.

Anyone found a solution to this? @jubei @cynicalrider i think both of you mentioned this problem.

I'm almost positive that's where mine was leaking as well, which is weird because it looks really difficult to get water up to that point, not to mention through the grommet.

I thougot about doing the same thing that you mentioned, but I haven't followed through on it yet. I'd be curious to see what Mike did.

Did you find it using the TSB instructions? I've got a passenger side leak I need to hunt down.

Previous owner installed cruise from a newer truck using OEM stalk and module. There are 4 wires in the existing plug and 4 on the 4Runner plug. The wiring on the dash harness side base been tampered with and some of the wire are different colors than OEM. Plan right now is to use FSM diagrams to match pin outs for the connectors and eliminate non factory wiring once I peel the tape and crap off.
Not too worried about it as I never used it anyway. Truck is a 3rz with 408k on it, constantly shifting due to lift/tires etc.

No, just regular maintenance with OEM filters and Amsoil.

At least on my truck, it comes in when the truck is parked across an incline, with the driver side uphill. Water goes through the crack between hood and fender. Rolls over the little lip of the fender and hits the bundle of wires that goes through the grommet. The water rides the wires right into the cab. Water is some sneaky shit. Ha ha.
Psshttt... I'm way more scientific than that. I suspected that's where it was coming in, so I stood there with the hose pipe running on that corner of my hood for a minute. Looked inside. Water in the floor. Water dripping off the wires that come through the grommet. Boom! Science!

Seriously though, what is toyota's suggested method for leak hunting? Can't be much different.

There was a TSB on the leaky grommets?

The wire all the way to the right is horn switch power. That one does not connect to the actual cruise control switch.

So far no rear axle seal leaks. I still wonder why Toyota redesigned the rear axle seals. It seems like the margin of error is a lot greater vs the old style

It wasn't that far off, posting a link to it in next response to Jubei.
