You are correct in the knowledge, sir.
I feel badly for the people that can't take advantage of this and are in the market for a truck.
    It's bean-counter logic, I suppose.

Star Blazers came on early Sunday morning when I was a kid.

I got up to watch it at 7:00 :D

There is a new version available (Space Battleship Yamato 2199) which has an improved version of the original storyline and vastly improved animation.

Now the Captain is called Okita instead of Avatar and the enemy are Gamilas instead of Gamelons.

    Highly recommended series, 26 episodes.

I imagine this doesn't apply to leases?

You are missing a lot of key points here.

It is not up to the salesperson to haggle with the buyer on the sale price of the dealer. It is up to the management. They could give less of a damn what the sales person's quota is at and how many they have sold, only so they can give them shit later. Which is the reason why the sales department is one of the largest revolving doors a dealership or even occupation-wide. If they determine that they are willing to take a loss on the vehicle to make the sale they will. The Tacoma is not one of those vehicles. Unless of course sales volume on them nationwide is down then they will push incentives for folks to buy them. Or the vehicle has been sitting on the lot for over 45 days, at about 60 days they tend to start marking it down MAYBE $500 off. They may be hurting right now on them, so they may be in a better position to haggle with the buyer but 9/10 you lose that battle with any Toyota dealer.

Most Toyota dealers are all about volume, so more often than not, they are marked up fairly little and it is not so much about the front end profit (the final sale price of the vehicle) it is about the back end (warranties, gap insurance, etc). They are more concerned about pushing high numbers of product, in this case vehicles, rather than gouging folks for their money on the initial sale price. They have other ways of making their money to keep the lights on and earn some profit.

That is why if some unreasonable customer walks in and demands to haggle thousands of dollars off a new Tacoma they'll rather tell them to kick rocks than sit there for hours only to lose thousands in the process just to please someone who will likely give them a poor review for "wasting" too much of their time. Because again, they know someone more sensible who understands the value behind these trucks will come along and be well informed, willing, and ready to make a purchase.

Very cool. I'll check out the new version of the series. Looks awesome from the clip you posted.
One of the items on my bucket list is to visit the Yamato Museum in Kure, Hiroshima and see where she (Yamato) was built.
What a waste of the greatest battleship ever built. It would have been awesome if the USN could have captured and taken her a prize.
Given the circumstances, she was doomed; sent out on a one-way, suicide mission.

That's because it's marked down for what those shitty trucks are really worth and the depreciation when you roll off the lot. Why do you think domestic cars are always advertised with high incentives, cash rebates and such. Think Toyota and lexus does that? Like never. Vehicle is WORTH what it is...

Eh idk I see plenty of old F150s and Chevy 1500s around here all the time. The full size offerings tend to be pretty good from domestics. Except for dodge that is. Where domestics really flounder is in the cars and mid size suvs.

A dealer emailed me today at the exact same time I finished reading this thread. I thought they were reaching out to me about the $1000 off the Tacomas!! But they weren't... Doesn't look like the offer is available in Oregon.

Be sure there will be very little negotiations and higher finance rates with this offer. Buyer beware

If anyone's in CT/NY area, Stamford Totota came way down on their lease quote for me today. Said the deal had to be done by Friday, I'm assuming they're trying to meet a quota. Not the best deal ever but not the worst, I love the truck and only leased because I'm not 100% convinced all the issues have been worked out in these trucks yet.

    TRD OR DCLB, fully loaded
    MSRP: $41225
    $1160 down, $418/mo.

Earlier in the week they wouldn't budge below $470/mo.

Just FYI....based on my experience....I bought my Tacoma using Costco pricing. Not all dealerships will offer for the Tacoma so call Costco and they will tell you which dealerships will honor for the Tacoma pricing. Also once you fill out there purchase survey they will send you a coupon for 15% or up to $200 off items or services purchased at that dealership. Costco also offers if you call each time a 15% of all parts, accessories and service for any car that you own a voucher for any participating dealership. They usually will not include the TRD Pro to the TRD Off Road in the costco pricing. It is really up to each participating dealership. Hope that helps.

Is it 15 percent or 50 percent? Here in Southern California I was offered 50 percent. You kinda have to plan your purchase of the vehicle around this and try and maximize the offer. Like I tried to find a Tacoma without the bed mat and wheel locks so I could purchase them at a 50 percent discount. It can be more of a discount (depending on your purchase price of the vehicle) considering a bed mat price is 120 and you can purchase it for 109 dollars from the parts department and get the 50 percent discount off of that.

    costco auto.jpg

A note about the purchase price of the Tacoma through Costco. It probably wasn't the best price I could get but it was definitely the easiest. Two dealerships that I went to wouldn't budge off of MSRP but I didn't try very hard. Both of them wouldn't give me an email quote unless I went there. With Costco, I got one email quote, another dealer wouldn't give me a quote without going there. The biggest problem I had was finding the exact vehicle I wanted without the unwanted options. Let me take that back, the options weren't unwanted, I just didn't want to pay for them.

I guess every dealer has their own sale philosophy but I doubt they want to come off with the image that salesmen are expendable, especially there's plenty of good one they want to hold on to. That same good salesman go down the street sells cars at your competitors, time to put up the sign and shut the doors.

Management do care salesmen meet the quota. If they're short by one car three hours before closing at the end of the month, They will sell it to themselves, their cousins across the country or their haggling customers. Monthly bonus is what keep the lights on, dealer or salesmen. There's no gain giving their salesmen shit and make them feel bad when they have all to gain from everyone working hard and make their quota.

My buddy met his quota and gave me his sales to meet mine...I've done the same for him.

    enuff said.

Sorry....I meant 50% and 15% thereafter for accessories service parts etc only at that dealership where the truck was purchased.
