Dakars are back ordered. :annoyed: Should hopefully get them in before Takeover still though.

Lol good luck with that. Mine are so old there are permanent spider cracks through out. They need to be replaced.

So now that I had a sexy new @HomerTaco Toywerx grill I had my old grill left sitting idle. This grill was the first mod I ever did to my truck and I have a soft spot in my heart for it. Luckily my cousin suggested to me an awesome idea for a way to use it.

Looks damn good in my opinion.

Thanks Brett, it looks like yours is setup differently than mine like you said. It looks like this one relay or whatever the fuck it is is just attached with glue to the rubber isolator.

Looks like it busted off when I was wheeling which made the tubes bust off since they are all old and cracked as well. Wrapped the tubes in electrical tape and re-glued the isolator with some super glue. We'll see how that holds before I go replacing shit.

Also had some parts come in. 5125's with 9" of travel, wheelers super bumps, u bolts for dakars, and super bump spacers just in case.

Just waiting on the Dakar's now.

Any reason for choosing the dakars and not going with Chevy springs?

Time mostly. Dakars are proven and relatively cheap considering they are a new pack. Just don't have time to go to the junk yard and build a pack. If I was going to go that route I'd relocate the shocks, do the u bolt flip, box the frame, etc... Just don't have the time or funds to do all that before Moab, so slapping another band aid on it. Considering my stock pack with just a shackle lift has accomplished what it has so far, I think this will definitely hold me over for another year or two.

Are you going to run the shackle lift and Dakars? Waiting to see how you like it. I plan to run toytec 1in shackle lift and dakars also. just waiting to save up for the dakars and the 5125 9.25in travels. give a review once you test them out.

I thought about going with them but after seeing them on @alee891 truck they seemed to flatten out rather easily with just the weight of his bumper and swingout. I think I'm going to wait until winter to overhaul my rear. The 2 extra springs in my stock packs are barely enough but they work for now.

Yeah still going to run the shackle lift at the same time. I'll let you know how I like it.

Yeah I mean I would say dakars would need at least an AAL especially setup like Austin is with that much weight hanging out at the end of the bed, or like you running a cap. But even then I think a wheeler's pack or the all pro expo pack would be better suited for you guys than Dakars. Comparably my rear end is light with only my tool box, spare, CO2 and jerry's. From what I read as far as weight handling goes, Dakar's are only a little bit better than Deavers when it comes to handling a ton of weight all the time.

Just my input: The dakars aren't super flat on my rig. As arched as new, god no, but they seem to carry the load well, especially with the aal. They still have plenty of travel in both directions. I know @capturecolorado had the expos and they were flatter than a pancake with similar weight. Not swearing by the dakars by any means, but for the cost they perform well.

Good to know! I also know Dakar's lay out/look flatter right? They kinda have a } shape to them? I think I remember reading @Box Rocket discussing this before. I also know he had a decent amount of weight as well. I think I will be okay with no AAL for now, I might need it if I ever add a bed rack.

I figured it's the best bang for my buck at the moment (that's plug and play) and will serve me well for now.

Daks are better than Deavers? Aren't Deavers custom to the weight you request? Or is that only Alcan?

FWIW with my dakars they seemed to flatten out a little but not too bad with my shell and RTT being swapped. AAL is a must for when I get a swingout. But I have no complaints yet. They didn't flatten out bad but it was noticeable. And they ride like shit unless you've got weight in the back. Just my toolbox is not enough weight. Even my RTT helps but not enough to go over 15 mph over speed bumps (Kings upfront force me to do this )

From what I had researched a while back, OEM Taco springs were designed to be run flat-to-inverted at ride height, and from what I could tell from OME and aftermarket springs, is that they all appear to be designed around the same parameters. Flatish, but with a curve on the ends to provide the lift.

I had the expo springs, and if I did it again, I'd get the AP non-expo springs. With exception of when I had the shell and drawer system, I rarely ever hit the maintained load capacity that the springs needed, and they rode harsh all the damn time..
