Very cool on the ES and LOL on the Gordon. Already thinking how to drag your ass, and your dogs, out to SD for pheasants. This year is a bust for me with a huge go live and the farmers are asking to cut CRP due to the drought already. More than likely this year can't make it and makes my heart cringe thinking about it, having just picked up another Toller that is a year and a half. The 2.5 year old finally caught on last year and watching the lights come on in his head was worth the trip alone.

Not sure if you have ever had the chance to experience it but when a thousand pheasants get up at once unless the dog has experienced it before they literately piss themselves. And your heart might skip a beat or 2 yourself. But the dogs....

Yeah I know toilets flush and pointers are real bird dogs. And you have to be careful to not mix the 2 in the field. But several of my friends have pointers and we can do it I have some experience with hunting like that. The ES would have a blast and the Gordon would learn in a week what most dogs never learn in a lifetime.

In any event wow you did great and I am happy for you and your new companions.

That does suck and sorry to hear about it. It is hard to see that for any dog at any age. I ended up with my rescue dog because the breeders son wasn't really old enough for the responsibility. And there are now some issues that I have to fix. 3 weeks as of today and have come a long ways. But have so far to go yet. Kind of reminds me of kids raising kids.

Finally got the meter out to test the battery and I could have saved the time. The computer controlling the setup is dead. Somebody called it.

    Watch your fucking language.
    Glad you are OK.

When I put them together still has to be during the day in case I have to make a vet run to keep one of them alive. The "old" guy is not only food and toy possessive as to be expected, but also apparently possessive of me. The young guy has bonded well to me also, maybe too much, but have heard through the grapevine that one of several reasons that the son couldn't handle the dog was because of dominance. And have to agree I see a lot of that even though I have established with both of them that I am the leader of the pack. Although the new guy seems to do well with most of the neighborhood dogs, but there is usually tension in the air.

Have an appointment next week with my favorite obedience training facility for evaluation. Thank you for asking! I really want this to work out and think it will. But is not going to happen overnight. Some things can be almost impossible to over come and why many rescue dogs say it is a one dog person. Hoping this is not the case. For both of my guys. I will even stop to ask for directions when lost LOL. Including beyond my element with behavior problems with the pups. At least I have learned that after this many years. :fingerscrossed:

Looks great! My 3x5 came today and will be up in the morning. It's made by Annin up in NJ. That's the size they recommended for a mounted, six foot pole like that.

If you're allowed, you may want to go to an 8' or 10' pole. Is the bottom of that pole on the ground or in a holder?

    Edit:
Nevermind, I see it now. So, if you went to a longer pole that sits on the ground it would have less stress, be just as easy to mount and be more secure.
