I feel you there! I've got a few friends that just got into riding, we've been doing a lot of urban tinkering rides. A guy that is great at breaking down skills is Phil Kmetz. He does a series of videos on youtube called skills with Phil. I've picked up quite a few little tricks from him. Also on the endo thing, its a great skill to have for really tight switchbacks!

Phil, Seth's bike hacks, and GMBN have taught me many a thing! I even picked up a few pointers for GCN the road bike version...but we don't talk about roadies

Finally was able to save up enough for my 1up Heavy Duty bike rack . Loaded it up for the first time headed down to the beach this past weekend. Not only did it transport my bike no sweat, I can leave it on and still get in and out of the tailgate when its time to access gear or get into the bed of the truck to sleep. Build quality is insane on this thing. Love it!

I've snapped enough metal frames that I have zero interest in carbon, especially given how much more restrictive the warranties on those are.

Which brands have more restrictive warranties? I'm a pretty mellow rider so frame breakage isn't really an issue for me, but everything I've heard - from personal friends, not internet chatter - is that Trek, Specialized, Ibis and Santa Cruz will totally replace frames no questions asked.

I believe most brands carbon frames are time limited warranties, compared to lifetime warranty on metal frames. Kona for example will only warranty carbon frames for 3 years.

^^ I just checked Trek, Santa Cruz and Ibis. The first two have lifetime carbon frame warranties (with the exception of a few models, but Fuel and Remedy were not on the exception list); Ibis has a 7 year warranty.

I work at a mfg plant that does some carbon layup work (non-bike related). It is amazing the crap it will hold up to!

Just don't touch it bare handed before it gets a clear coat. the oils on your hands spoil it big time.

I did not know that about the oil. I was nervous about going with carbon until i saw this video, plus the warranty from Yeti helps.

Well I've taken long enough to read through this thread, now it's time to add my stallions to the mix.

Recently went to Nembafest/Kingdom Trails in VT and I highly recommend it to anyone if you have the chance. So I've got my SnowyTuRD packed up for the weekend, a view of the expo and my buddy's/my bike out on the trails.

Picked this beauty up last night for a steal on Craigslist. Definitely a much needed upgrade in the bike department n+1, now just waiting for it to get tuned so I can get out and ride it. Also having the Taco makes things so much easier for hauling bikes compared to a Mustang.

Do you have your bikes mounted or just the wheels turned? Trying to plan a better way to haul mine.

They are mounted, I made myself a DIY rack which was significantly cheaper than buying one that does the same thing.
    IMG_20170426_223335501.jpg IMG_20170426_223344047.jpg

I've since added a spot for a 2nd bike which is how both bikes were mounted into the bed. Now with the new bike I need to modify one of the mounts so it'll work with a thru axle.

Also @Mountainwolf I'm jealous of your bikes and your cars :drool::drool:
