A tractor is all bottom end but I wouldn't want to drive it on the road to work everyday. When you need more top end, the 2GR is the winner.

Maybe so. But the peak torque of the 1GR hits some 600 rpm sooner than the 2GR. That lower end is mostly achieved through the 1GRs longer stroke....giving it the additional 500 CCs of displacement as well

Not a bad first post. Took a swipe at the Third Gen and managed to work in that you've owned a bunch of Tacomas, but you did forget to mention that it's a $40k truck. So close to the total package.

Most of that bottom end is achieved through gear reduction.....hence why a tractor can't do 60 mph

The 2013 suits my needs well.
I don't believe the gen 3 could merge this load into traffic as swift as I can. In fact, if I'm too heavy on the peddle, I will squeal the tires all the way through an intersection. That's with plenty of tongue load.

I've said before that I would have preferred Toyota took this motor and stroked it out to 4.0 Litre like the engine it replaced. My Truck weighs about 200 pounds more then my Wifes Highlander but her vehicle feels like it weighs a lot less off of the line with the same sized engine.I blame that on tuning.
