That's probably not a bad idea in general. Apparently older cars with gas cap locks get the cap stolen. Then they use it to make a spare key to take the truck itself...

So lately I was thinking, did 1st gen double cabs come with manual transmissions? Cause I've never seen one, if not, probably someone thought about swapping a manual hmm makes me wonder

Topped off this morning with 18.2 gallons of fuel in the 18.5 gallon tank. New record for me.

I want to do this so bad. I miss having a manual. The downtime would kill me, though, I'd have to buy another DD.

I remember once when I was a kid my dad ran out of gas while we were driving to get gas. He put the car in neutral and coasted down the hill into the gas station. Funny that a guy who lived through all of the gas crises of the 70s would let it get that far. I rarely let mine get below half a tank.

This is a rare occurrence for me. My previous record was a little over 17. When I fill up, it's typically somewhere around 15 gallons.

Well, we appear to be back on track! Axle is back in the truck, new body bushings have been installed, front diff is out and getting re-geared, the remaining mounting points from my leaf springs and panhard setup have all been cut out along with the spare tire bracket, 4-link getting dialed in, new beefy coil buckets coming together, there is also talk about a rear sway bar.
