You aren't making any sense here Matt.

I'll have to wear sunglasses with the street helmet, unless i got a transitions visor like Chris suggested.

Eyes always have to be covered while riding. So at dusk, sunglasses come off and visor goes closed.

Nice. Glad to hear you are ok. I'd look into a different bike. I started out with a ninja 500. Loved it. Hated selling it. Bit dated. Might want to check out some newer used bikes like the ninja 650 or the Yamaha fz

...if you have a bright headlight, the visor doesn't matter if it's clear or dark, it can stay down regardless. My headlights on the FZ are good and I can see just fine with my chrome tint visor down.

Not quite sure you're following the logic

Don't always have to have your eyes covered, lol. You can ride around with a visor up. Get a transition and don't worry about it. Or buy a tinted and swap the clear that comes with the helmet in at night

Yup. I'm certain I was born with a golden horseshoe shoved up my ass, because I simply cannot fathom how lucky I was.

I've actually been considering an upgrade. The CBR650F is especially appealing, because it's basically the modern replacement for my Ninja in terms of power, technology, and purpose. I'm keeping the 500 though, I want to do stupid shit to it and make it something to ride around town.

I've thought about splicing some ear plug style headphones to replace the speakers. Once you get to highway speeds the noise level is too high to really hear someone

Earbuds bother me cause they don't conform like ear plugs.

Sometimes I can hear pretty well and others not. Not sure why

Thats a negative. Not exactly safe.

Also, dig all the shit out of your eyes that mine have seen and tell me you'll ride with them uncovered

Lol, what's not safe? I can see just fine with my headlights and chrome visor.

I never said ride without eye pro.

I'm glad you're apparently 70 years old with "all the shit your eyes have seen" though

I could plug those in already into the smh10. It has the speakers pre wired and the aux port.

Sold the 300 and picked this up a week ago! Newest thing I have ever owned! 2006 KTM 200 xc-w with 78 hrs. I love it, everything I wanted, its super light, and has loads of low end to move through the timber without having to get into the power or work the clutch.

Damn. glad to hear you're OK. Has insurance looked at the bike and said it's fixable? 50mph lowside might total it. If you can swing it, buy it back from salvage and you'll have a solid track bike.

I'm saying riding at night, with basically sunglasses on thus making you probably have to leave your high beam on would make you an asshole.

It also isn't exactly safe because there will be shit that you cant see due to the unlit areas of your vision.

But alas, you do you booboo

    Thanks, I appreciate the sympathy.

It's been totaled out already. I bought it for 1200 bucks originally, it was totalled w/ about 3k in damage. I did buy it back, I've got more than the 350 in salvage in it in parts I can resell. I'm not sure whether to make it a track bike, a salvage title street fighter, or just part it out. Gonna have to put a spreadsheet together first to do some cost/benefit. My biggest problem with making it a track bike is there aren't any tracks super local to me that I know of. Suburban Chicago is all Harley country, no real twisties either.
