Yeah gears and lockers


I have 285/75/17's so I'm running some big tires. I think that gears help but the software in our truck is bad. They intentionally retard the engine. The same engine makes more power and torque at lower rpm in other vehicles. I hope they come out with an update/tune soon. I know @OVTune is working on one. I think that paired with our gears will be perfect

 

Yeah I did the same thing, but I'm running 285/70/17s so just a tad smaller. I honestly don't understand why they didn't just make the 4.0L more efficient. They're gonna have to come up with something bc quite frankly over 50mph the engine sucks and sucks gas! I hate to be hatin on Toyota, but it's like they never test drove it on the interstate.

All that being said other then next to a Jeep it's the most modded off-road vehicle out there. They even advertised to that side of the market! Hosting all kinds of off-roading text.


I still luv my truck though... I just sucks I can't drive it like I did my 07. I gotta finesse the gas peddle just right so I don't drop 2 gears to go up a hill while on the interstate.

What you need to know buddy?

It's the 100 watt RV kit made by Renogy. Unless you're running a fridge freezer it's way overkill. This thing produces more power than I can dream of drawing! I could literally turn on every accessory and it would still be charging the batteries

 

I'm digging the solar panel, if you're running dual batteries you can charge em all and then some, hell you can power everyone's per needs

 

Tks bro! That was kind of the idea!! My fridge freezer was killing my batteries for sure, mainly bc I don't drive enough. Next project is running power up to the roof rack to run a fan in my tent at night. Plus a USB outlet or two. Planning on using a marine outlet set.

 

Please make sure it's USB 2.1 and not the girl 1 amp output lol

 

Beautiful build and very simple yet everything has a purpose. I saw your build and it was very helpful. I was looking into getting a battery set up to run my led lights and winch and anything else that I might think of in the future. I was wondering what type of odyssey batteries you have on yours? Also for your solar panel is it a plug and play type or permanently situated where it is in your picture? Thanks in advance.

 

That's actually the plan down the road. I would like to run a fridge/freezer combo one day. I am slowly building towards it though.

Did you wore this kit into your accessory battery or into the main? And I like your idea of running power to the roof. I may just set this up at the same time.

 

Awesome, clean setup! Ever look at your bumper and immediately think of what would happen with all that gas/propane and steel if you got rear ended?

Hmmm I don't remember which type Odysseus I have only that one is a performance and the other is an extreme. The solar panel is permanently mounted and also plug and play. I did cut some wires, but just to make them shorter so I didn't have tons of excess wires laying around. I hate spider webs of wiring for no reason. Lol

 

I ran it to the auxiliary battery. The aux is solely for the fridge and is the one that needs all the power

 

Bahahaaa thought of it, but it would have to be a tall car or truck otherwise it would under ride me.

does the ARB pump in the cab not make you insane? I had one under my jeep and it was pretty loud (the little one that just runs lockers). I would like do the Slee mount with the dual compressor, but then not sure where I would put a second battery. I'm with you on the "no light bars on the roof" thought. Between the glare and the whistle its not worth it.

Extremely nice truck. Been stalking around here for the last several days and just went out and bought a Cement TRD pro with 285/70r17 largely motivated by your truck. I got lucky on deciding I want one and finding one local at the same time.
