for some reason the locker doesnt work in my truck.
every time i try to use it, it does nothing just the light on the dash flashes.
ive tried everything. shift into N, put in 4lo, then locker. P, 4lo, locker. and a million different things. tried backing up and turning. both in reverse gear, and rolling backwards in neutral. the damn thing just wont engage lol
except... one time it did lock and and stayed locked in!!! even in 2wd lol it was pretty cool but NOT RIGHT lol and thats the only time ive gotten it to engage..
    can anyone help me out??

i'm just saying that b/c in the OP u dont mention 4H before 4L. the only way you will get 4L to actually work is to go 4H first. the only way to get the locker in (unless modded) is to be in 4L. they kinda fall hand in hand

not really.....there is no reason that you would have to go directly from 2H to 4L and not have the time to go through the 3 steps instead of the 2

I had trouble with my locker in my 09 the first couple of times I tried it, as did my buddy in his 09. In fact, the first time I tried it, it took several car lengths of slow driving to get it to disengage. I found that sometimes the truck just needs to roll a bit to lock and unlock. I do not know how the mechanism works, but it would seem that if something isn't exactly lined up in the diff, it won't lock. Now that I've learned to be patient and sometimes give it a few rotations of the wheels, it works much better. I can't help feeling that this is also, in part, a breaking in issue and now that I've used it a number of times, it engages more readily.

And, stated above, make sure your 4L is full engaged.

I had trouble getting mine to lock too. It turned out when I was on dry ground they gears must not have synced up. I got on the grass and hit the gas and it locked up for me.

First be sure the 4L light is not blinking and is lit solid. Get in some sand or slick surface. hit the locker button and try to spin the tires. it should lock up.

That's all i got. Good luck.

    try this
Get your truck to 4L once it is engaged park on even ground, shutdown truck but leave key in ON position then lift raer axle and try engaging rear locker. Listen if motor is running, if it is try rotating one tire and other tire should spin opposite until locker engages. If that does not help your only choice is going to be to remove locker and see if you can lock it manually.

If you have whole axle in the air it will work, make sure that truck is not running when you doing this. So do you hear electric motor running ? AWhen you try this you will know if maybe switch is bad. Sometimes switch goes bad so motor locks the axle but because switch does not say it it is locked light blinks and motor spins back and forth trying to lock it. You will know once you lift the axle, as I said if none works then next step would be to remove locker itself which is not big deal and use screwdriver to lock it in place. Find FSM before hand.
