Just renewed 30 day loaner paperwork for the second time today. Day 59 here and all they have to show is a big green "parts ordered" stamp on my paperwork. Serenity now.........

Yeah, that's some zen. That's twice as long as a house fly's life span.

Turned in 5/1 based on past experience. Didn't want to be #12, 22, 32, etc.. vs. #2. #1 traded his shit and I can't blame him. o_O

In the big scheme of things and comparing this thing to a Ford Windstar we used to have (wife liked it) whose electric doors would open while going down the road, or a Chevy Cavalier that kept losing clutch parts for the first 3 months I had it until Chevy rebuilt it...this is nothing. It drove great with this "leak" and I'm sure it'll drive great after I get it back.

Honestly, if this is the worst thing I have to endure this year I think I'm doing okay.

The service advisor was nice. She gave a complementary wheel alignment. I am wondering if they have to do the wheel alignment since they removed the rear end and put it back and just threw it in as "complementary". Anyways..

43 days, dealer said another 2 weeks for parts to come in. So, I went out
and bought a little dash cam...dreaming of the day I can use it in my truck.
Why should ALL the fun stop?

I had taken my SR5 Tacoma for the recall in May. They torqued the bolts and sent me on my way. I was checking the truck out last week and noticed some seepage in multiple spots around the rear differential. Took the truck into a different dealer and asked that they check it. I had taken pictures before hand and emailed corporate with my concern and followed up with a phone call. I spoke with the service representative and subsequently with the service mgr.. They had their master tech check the differential. They were extremely polite and accommodating. They informed me that they contacted Toyota and were instructed to order a new differential. I was not given a specific date of repair as parts ordered have to go thru the recall process. They placed me in a fully loaded 2017 Off Road Tacoma until mine is repaired. They need not get any ideas that I will become accustomed to a loaded Off Road and want to buy one, lol. I have no need for all those fancy gadgets and the truck just feels heavy and more sluggish than mine. Probably just needs to become adjusted to my style of driving. Nice truck though. Better than some Corolla. I guess I join the wait game, but at least I have a Tacoma to drive in the mean time.

Talked to my service manager, I told him I knew about the procedure, parts etc. And that I wouldn't be bringing the truck in until parts were available to be orderd and not on backorder. He was cool with that and told me to give in a call in a few weeks to check the status.

Toyota shipped out a "Limited" number of parts to some dealers that had a large number of trucks being held to move them along. But now they are out waiting for the big supply of parts to come in from China or where ever they are coming from.

Mine laid up only since 06/22/17. Checked with parts at local dealer. Manager said no idea when parts due and possibility the current gasket/bolt fix is not working on some Tacos. Wonder if any fatal accidents(rear end locks up at high speed) have happened yet? Toyota has dropped the ball on this recall. Announced end of April, two months later the recall is proceeding at a snail's pace. If the recall is completed on your Taco checking the rear diff might be a good idea.

46 Days total!!! 39 Days counting only working business days, not Sundays or Holidays.

My truck is freeeeeeeeee! They changed my gasket and bolts, 2.75 Liters of diff fluid was drained. They didn't clean up a single thing, the underside of my truck is splashed with oil running down the back axles.

Great! But, make the Dealer finish the job! Your truck should be clean of any evidence they did the work. Very unprofessional.

Agree with you on that! I go to the same dealership and they can be sloppy! Had my rear drivers side window molding replaced there and got home to find a inner trim molding piece on the floor.. fkrs oh well .. snapped it back in myself..

The good news is the parts are in !!

But to wait that long with your truck held hostage they should have at the very least power washed your entire undercarriage .

    @helloericlieu I would make a complaint asap
And have um clean it up !!!
