OP you have the 2.7L 5-speed correct? How's the truck pull with the extra weight on the wheels?

so I have an SR5 with mud flaps, probably have to take them off, but I also would like the tires to stick out a little further to fill the wheel wells so I may use some spacers and the OR/Sport I believe has a stock height about 1" higher than the SR/SR5, but this is all good to know, don't do much serious off road just mainly some back roads during winter in pa when up there hunting.

I'm aware of that. Since I'm pretty sure OP and I have the same truck, I wanted to know his opinion of the 4cyl+bigger tires.

Sorry I was confused, is the 4 cylinder a 5 speed? I had wrongly assumed all 3Gs were 6

The manual 4cyl is 5, auto is 6.

Lol as if this is news. This has been common knowledge since I dunno week 2 after first deliveries back in 2015. I think it was @treehugger who did it first?

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/285-75-r16-results-on-2016-trd-offroad.396218/

Fact is they will rub in extreme cases even with stock wheels. Put some aftermarket wheels and/or spacers and it's even worse. Is what it is. No one is spreading false information except the OP claiming 285s fit no rub. 285s rub even with a 3" lift if you haven't done a CMC.

FACT. If you don't want to get a CMC, stay with stock tires. Its not the height you are competing with, but the foundation of the frame work that will naturally hit if you cycle your suspension with a bigger tire.

I rubbed 285/75/16 tires with TRD offroad wheels against the stock UCA just turning the wheel on perfectly flat ground.

fast forward to 3" of lift and 1" wheel spacers and i rub on the cab mount occasionally. That's after trimming plastic and removing the mudflaps.

If you know how to find good tire pressure, it's just about the same. Difference is negligible

Lol mine don't rub at all, your truck must be broken. Did you try to turn it off and turn it back on again?. Nice try.

You won't be able to run spacers with these big a tire. I tried. The wheel will rub hard. Without a spacer is perfectly fine.

Why do I need to take a chill pill bc of my statement... Nothing I said was harsh. All I stated were situations and facts. He made a general statement which isn't true. Sure for his situation it could be possible that absolutely no rubbing occurs but you can't make a claim that 33" tires will fit on stock height bc like you said someone will log on to TW and take his general statement as a true statement and actually go out and buy tire size based on that information. Sure at the end of the day it would be the individual's fault for not doing all his research but just wanted to point out it wasn't a true over all statement that could be claimed.

I have sliced my tires from bottoming out the suspension and the pinch welds under the wheel well cut through and chewed my tires on my cab mount after its been chopped with new tires and its not a good feeling (3" lift 285/75/16 K02s (32.8"OD) on FN wheels 4.0 Backspacing and 0 offset). Maybe you don't care about this topic enough to make a correct statement but I'm just trying to help the next guy out based on experience.

This is funny. "It could be possible that for him, no rubbing occurs, but he can't claim no rubbing occurs because someone might use the real data he's provided regarding a specific tire on a specific wheel to guide a decision, instead of relying on the intangible data provided by other peoples' paragraph long rants about why he's a liar"

These tire threads all turn into this mess too. "There's no way you are doing what you say youre doing because it causes me cognitive dissonance!" Also, #255s4Lyfe
