Those knob locks break easily. They'll break in the locked position and youre SOL. I would recommend finding a bolt with a hole cross drilled through it so you can lock it with a padlock just the ATO mounts have.

 

I feel like it would be tricky to find a 1/4th or 3/8th bolt with a cross drilled hole that would fit a lock

 

Could call up one of these manufactures that give the option for it in their kit and ask if they would sell you the bolts. Even could take one of the bolts you have and find a local machine shop that would cross drill you a 1/4" hole about 1/2" down the threads so you could use a 3/16" lock.

 

This is why I use hood pins like I mentioned earlier to mount mine.

Best way to mount it to a prinsu?

 

Drill 1/2" hole through your bars and tighten the jam nuts on either side.
Tack weld or stake the threads on the bottom jam nut.

Oh got it, that would work. I thought you were trying to contain each mounting point to one crossbar. I will have to see what my local homedepot can muster up

 

Or just drill through the cross bar.

 

Last resort, I like the idea of things being modular and clean. If I end up wanting to move the position of my high lift on the rack then I would just have existing holes in the crossbars which I would particularly like, seeing as I am very OCD I would have to order new crossbars. Brackets work better for me in my opinion

 

On a that case some 3/8"x 2" aluminum flat bar would work well for you. Cut 2 pieces to span your bars. Drill four 1/4" holes in each end and a 1/2" hole in the center.

 

Yea that sounds more my speed. Im going to swing by home depot today and see what is available!

 

Use a small amount of WD-40 on your bits when drilling. the aluminum it will tend to stick to the bit. The WD-40 will prevent this. Tap magic will also work.

 

Always use lube while drilling.

 

In some circumstances if you need lube your doing it wrong.

 

And you want to be sure not to use too much, just a drop'l do 'er.
