I got my DCORLB without the tech package for about $1000 less than the Costco price. Paid $34700.
My buddy had a dealer in Ukiah willing to sell him the same truck with tech package for $37700, sticker was$40400. The manager sold it to another dealer the day before he was going to get it. In NorCal, they will deal around invoice.

CA owner here. Went through Costco auto program and credit union financing. Costco rate was $100 over invoice at the time (December 2016) and they refused to go lower or negotiate anything like all weather mats or 125k warranty.

With the credit union I was approved up to $50k in advance in writing. They needed a bill of sale to write the loan. Some CUs will just give you a blank check good for up to a certain amount. I told the sales drone that I had my own financing but was willing to go with Toyota financing instead if the deal was right (my CU deal turned out to be better).

If you are pre approved first then you know how much you can afford or what you are willing to spend. Also, you already know your best APR so you can laugh when the sales drone breaks out the "four square " and tries to rip you off via payment amount.

I just purchased a 2017 White TRD Off Road Double Cab 4x2. (Toyota Escondido) MSRP was asking $34,078. Ended up negotiating sale price for $32,500. There's always room to negotiate MSRP price. Always negotiate selling price before discussing payments.

Keep in mind that adding premium and technology packages with options can increase the base price by up to $4000 more. This includes features such as front dual zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, rear parking sonar,28 Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)43 (replaces chrome rear bumper with color-keyed on Off-Road grade) and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA),51 projector-beam headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) with auto on/off feature, and power tilt/slide moonroof.

If you are willing to give up these premium features you can save up to an additional $4000 on the selling price.

I would really suggest going for the tech package. The chrome bumper on a quicksand truck looks really cheap and weird. Also, the rear cross traffic is great for backing out of parking lot spots where people just zoom by. You get a quick audible beep when someone is about to get behind you.

In all honesty I've never been a fan of adding things like the "tech package" or add-ons like that from the dealership but I made the mistake of test driving one with the tech package! I LOVED IT! and want a sunroof lol.

Ive started emailing dealerships and this might take a gooooood while but no matter how long it takes ill keep this thread updated. Who knows I might start a pre-build thread since I want to buy things already for a truck I don't even own yet

As much as I would've loved the tech package I personally can't afford the extra $2000 - $3000 increase in price. I have the same lovely truck without all the bells and whistles of the tech package. The audible beep while backing out must be a nice feature, but I guess I'll just do it the old fashioned way and look over my shoulder when backing out.

Im almost certain that I'll be buying, but just in case I go the lease route, do all of the same principles apply as if I were buying? Like emailing for the best price and such? Or would it be harder to get a deal on a lease? I've heard that you don't tell them your buying or leasing until they give you a price first.

Man these trucks are hard to barter on. I am a Mortgage Banker and have been in sales for 11yrs and know all the ticks usually. Not happening this time...

I have been calling, texting, emailing dealerships all across California. Apparently I am looking for a "purple unicorn" Taco in my area. As of today 10 of 10 dealerships I talk to confirm there are only 2 of these trucks available in So Cal right now. 2017- Tacoma -TRD Off Road- 4x4 - DC - LB - Technology Package in Black color. Apparently the Long beds are very hard to find in that combo. I sleep in the bed of my truck, put dirt bikes and camping gear and all kinds of other crap. I cant imagine having a 5ft bed.... couldnt even sleep in it.

Anyways.... I have made friends with a broker and he seems to have the best deal for me so far. Other dealerships are telling me he is lying to me and no way can he get the price.
My price out the door = $38,695 + $800 broker fee = Total OTD price $39,494.

Also checking with Costco right now. if anyone in So Cal needs a good deal I can share my contacts #. Or if anyone knows of a better deal I am open to suggestions. Trying to grab the truck this weekend.

We bought our 2016 DCLB Sport 4x2, loaded with everything, tow, tech and "Leather" Dec 31 2016 from Capitol Toyota in San Jose. They were the only ones that had that truck in all of Cali at the time (long beds especially with tow & tech were hard to find). Went thru fleet sales, which we do with all our trucks, our company buys them. We paid cash for the truck, $36,460 plus fees. Oh, this also included a theft deterrent system which was installed after purchase.

What was the OTD price? And how do you buy fleet?

Long beds are definitely much harder to come by in the Double cabs. I was lucky my dealership just so happened to have one with almost everything exactly the way i wanted. Sticker price on mine was $37k. I went with lease though so im not sure what the OTD price would have ended up being

That's a very good deal. My buddy just bought the same config in quicksand, and it was $38k before fees. Lodi Toyota got it from.a dealer in Reno.

I would suggest learning how to use a financial calculator before you start talking serious numbers. There are tons of free apps that have them and you can learn how to use it well in about an hour. Running everything through a financial calculator while negotiating will reveal any funny business really quickly.

Haha it really is helpful. I'm an accountant so I brought my ba2+ with me for mine. The only tricks I really caught were from the financing person. They were pretty straight up with me in the negotiations.
