    do you have the part number handy for that blue Gates belt of our trucks? I want to double check I have the right one..

    This is what I ordered.. just picked up the truck from Toyota.. alignment is spot on, truck sounds so much smoother wityh new pulleys... took it for a drive on the freeway real quick.. gained 1-2 psi boost back... but when I pulled into the garage and popped the hood to check on everything.. I see this..

    I have gotten something like a mass air flow overflow or something but only during the winter on cold day. And its only happened twice ever. So nope, no codes.

    I think we have come to the conclusion, based on both our expiriences, that boost increases with how shitty your belt is. So no belt = all the boost.

    apparently! FML... :pout: no warranty on this either since i provided the parts.. so back to an OEM belt I guess.

    Sadly my oem gave m the best results......but when i put a new identical oem belt on i lost 1/2 psi

    I definitely gained up to 2 pounds back.. I was at a consistent 6 and flashing 7 just now. so maybe the tensioner.. maybe the new belt (or lack there of sine it was eating itself)

    ok, back from the dealer.. again. they got a new belt on for me, no labor charge.

    BUT.. im back down to 5 psi, flashed 6 barely.. of boost.. SO.. belt slippage for sure. I bet the Gates belt I had that was shredding wasnt allowing stretch.. @WOODEX M.E.

    From our text-versation. For everyone else viewing, that belt has been on before I started the thread for the upgraded Serpentine Belt. Still going strong. Installation requires strict and diligent checking to make sure it is correctly aligned on the grooves. Although easy, being off a rib could cause......well....you get the idea.

    The most interesting point is that boost was gained by replacing the serpentine belt! Shocking really. You'd never expect that.

    As Tor said.. in our texts.. by process of elimination.. came to realize.. that... Wait for it... Big shocker.. installation error.

    The tech surely didn't have it aligned. He mentioned he placed it all the way back on the pulleys (engine side) and when I found it shredded, it was all the way out on the fan side. It must have jumped.

    The increase in boost, per my gauge, was most definitely noticeable. I have been driving around for months around 5psi.. and I saw a consistent 6 and 7. Not just a flash, a good 7lbs cruisin.

    When i drove the truck a second time with the new OEM belt, it was back down to 5..

    Less resistance with less ribs? Better material compound with less stretch? :notsure: all I know is I plan to swap BACK to the gates and align it myself this time. Then after my findings.. adding the gates S/C belt as well to see if that helps on top of it.

    When you have your belt off next, de-grease and physically scrub your pulleys. Make sure to dry extra well and shoot with some brake clean to ensure you have perfectly clean surfaces.

    A good baseline will do some good to the experiment

    Will do! Atleast I have 3 new pulleys. The upper and lower idler they replaced with my provided parts.. and the idler on the tensioner itself.

    Thinking once it cools off a bit I'll do this. I'll let you know so we can drink some beer and hang out buddy! Been a while!

    Some said it isn't so bad because it's dry heat.....You can still cook an egg on the street. How is that better???

    The hot weather sucks.. but it's 100 days of misery, for 265 days of almost perfect weather.
