Post your 265/75 16s!

I was shocked at just how much meaner my truck looked with some more aggressive sidewall tires. That plus the 2" lift completely changed it's look and also improved it performance.

Plus, 2" of lift was just enough to easily get under for oil changes without having to put it on jack stands now. Very helpful

Just the front!! Levels it out perfect 3rd gens already sit an inch higher in the front stock so no need for a 3/1

This thread is about 265/75-16s. You're off a little.

 

Your truck looks great with those wheels. Are you running Spidertrax (or other brand) wheel spacers/adapters or not? They "stick out" of the fenders real nice! I'm thinking of going with a set of wheels like yours but in grey or some Ivan Stewarts. Any pics down the side so I can see how they stick out past the fender?

Sub'd! I've been thinking about 265/75/16s on my '17 Sport. Hoping I can nab some SCS 16x8 F5s and then figure out what tire I want exactly. I'm stuck between KO2s and Duratracs currently.

 

So here's a random observation from a 3rd Gen owner who went with Load Range E 265/75/r16s. My mpg tanked as you'd expect but I've discovered the following formula, which has brought the MPG back to almost stock levels.

In town, 50mph or less, keep it in Drive.
Highway, towing, hilly, or combined hwy/city at over 50mph, use ECT.

You'd think using ECT on the highway seems like the opposite time to do it, but honestly, drafting an 18-wheeler with a tailwind was getting me 18MPG in D, and today without that tailwind I scored a 20.5MPG both directions east and west bound. I've been testing this for the past month, and my results keep coming up like this. It seems backwards to me, but it's been quite effective.

Quick question for y'all 3rd gen guys. How much have the 265s affected you MPGs and anybody that tows regularly notice much performance loss? I've noticed a surprising hit on the MPGs and a little loss of towing performance. I know these tires are heavy for a 265 so curious how everybody else is doing?

I may actually go 4.88s soon.
I figured out all the RPMs in the towing gears/MPH and it actually makes sense with the ac60 trans.

 

I did the ECT on all the time Mod and get better MPGs on highway than without it. However, city MPG is worse. Depends on when I use it, and what I'm doing, but I've been averaging better MPG with the ETC on. However, it's still 2MPG less than stock per tank usually.

Towing is about the same honestly, and the E rated tires tow better, bounce around less.

I like the look enough I don't mind the loss.

 

Any complains about these tires? I'm getting a lot of mixed reviews about the wild peaks not balancing well causing vibrations.

 

So far I'm good, getting decent wear I checked them at 12k mi and they were 10-11/32, I did notice a vibration after rotating front to rear it went away though

highway wet handling is excellent, they track well in standing water, most of my off-road driving is worksite type environment so far they have worked well for that

 

Thanks for the feedback. Towings been pretty close but the truck does want to drop down to second on the big hills now with heavier tires. I used to turn 3500rpm in 3rd on the steep grades. I think I'm gonna go with 4.88s and if it's too much I can always put on 255/85r16s. It's a vicious cycle lol
