I heard that there was lantern talk in this thread. Whoever was asking about lanterns, I picked one of these up from Amazon the other. Used it when @SR510 and I were camping at Weaver Lake. It was cheap, small, and worked pretty well. No one within our 5 mile radius complained. ;)

I just went ahead and got the Nite Ize Radiant 300 from REI. Had a 20% coupon, plus it's rechargable via USB. Should be good enough to light up the tailgate out to at least 2, maybe even 2-1/2 miles out.

Who knew this little lantern thread would be so entertaining.:headbang:

Those hat lights don't put out much light, but they are good enough to see the ground when you are walking in the woods early in the morning. They don't spook the critters too bad.

I have this lantern. Got it as a gift from my boss for Christmas last year. It puts out a lot of light. Relatively cheap unless you get the 1100 lumen option. It had three hangers on it. Two styles on top and one on the bottom. I have the D battery one not the rechargeable one. I think I've got the 340 lumen option.

I used mine camping and would hang it on my beststop cross bars inside the bed. Worked awesome. Love this thing.

Lights I've been using since last winter have really impressed me. I started with there first model a small size one, went back to get another and noticed they came out with a larger size! Loved it! Told myself what the hell get 2 big ones and noticed while looking again for them they upgraded to Luci 2.0 for 20 bucks! Powered by the sun waterproof and never need to buy any batteries! I throw mine on my dash mat and they never move around. Have never run the 2.0 dead it's always had enough juice.

A bonus the company sends out there lights to third world nations in need!

I've found them for sale all over, even at Walmart!

What part of them inflates? Is it surrounded by a plastic diffuser or something?

Exactly it's like a pool mattress material with the same inflating nipple that sinks back into the top. Pinch the valve and pull apart it inflates!

Lantern is a Black Diamond Titan. Also use a Black Diamond Apollo in the tent.

Yep, those inflatable lights are pretty cool. I used them with my boys on our last out door trip. Now, I do understand what others were saying about camp lights, and how they can kill the outdoor experience. But, there's also the fact that you do need to use light in your camp site. If you don't want to use lights, and be in the beauty of God's creation, explore to places that no one can get too. If your neighbor chooses to flood his camp with bright LED lights, then you've made a choice to camp with the general public. So yes, those inflatable lights are very handy in the back country, when you have little ones that need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night
