They probably would melt. Yes, the link on the original post is where is bought my TRD Pro assemblies, but I eventually sold them to another member on here.

 

Are these H11's the same for the 2nd. Gen models? I have an 06 TRD OR DCSB, which I would like to do this to. I'm electrically challenged and might not even be talking about the same monster. I'm under the impression that the H11's are bulbs for the foglights in 3rd. Gen Taco's. Or are the H11's for the foglights in all models? Anyhow, this post is over a year old and I'm hoping that Ray over at Rallylights is still in business and making these harnesses if I should need one. Thanks for any help or guidance I should need.

 

The 2005-2011 2nd gen Tacomas use the H10 bulbs in the fog lights. 2012-2015 2nd gen use the H11 in the fog lights. The 3rd gen 2016 and on also use the H11 bulb for the fog lights. Ray can build the harness for your 2006 fog lights.

For headlights, the

2005-2015 use a reflector lens and a H4 bulb. The 2016 and on uses a projector and a H11 bulb. Ray can also build you a harness for your head lights or better yet a combined harness that run both the head and fog lights.

 

Thanks for the reply. Let me ask, what's the harness for if I'm just needing to change the bulbs? I thought that I would only need to change the headlight harness if I have the ground switching style harness instead of the conventional style?

 

The high wattage bulbs may be too much for the stock wiring.

Alright, I'll zip over there and "re-read" it, I must have missed something there when I was reading over it. Probably when I started bouncing my head up and down on my keyboard like a woodpecker when I was nodding off a little. Thanks for steering me back on the path to reality.

 

Yeah, I blew right over this: The Osrams will drastically outperform the PIAA style “60w=110w” type bulbs. The HID or LED also cannot compete with Halogen in the Color Rendering Index (CRI) rating meaning the halogens will provide a better lighting spectrum and better night vision color quality over HID or LED. These bulbs may damage your OEM harness and be limited in output without the additional standalone harness upgrade.

 

For the H10 trucks you can use the 1450 lumen optilux 65w H10:

I'm not a fan of the coated 4K bulb, but that is the brightest H10 I've seen from a credible manufacture. I would suggest running a harness.

Which could likely be run without a harness. Note that the harness reduces voltage drop and causes your lights to be brighter, so while it protects the trucks electrical system, it is just as much a part of the upgrade to increase output. Ok, I think I have it now. H10's for the fogs, H4's for the headlights and run the combination harness for both from Ray...? Thanks for clearing that up for me.

 

I don't see much benefit to the single combo harness, there was hardly a price break between separate harnesses. Makes for a slightly cleaner install, but I like the modularity of separate incase you change direction in the future.

 

Good point. I went to his website and on the top of the page you have a button to choose for vehicle type, I chose Toyota and then on the left side of the screen a window comes up and has a drop-down list of sub-models, and all it had in that list to choose from were some cars and the Tundra. Nothing for Tacoma at all. So, I guess I'll have to call and find out what the Heck is going on.

 

The fog H11 harness was a custom build requested by me, not an off the shelf part. You'll have to contact them about an H10 harness.

 

Ahhhhh, that explains it then. I was wagging my head when I got to the website and saw only the Tundra listed. You wouldn't have a part# by chance for the fog light harness would you?

 

Part number is listed in the thread:

But that part number is for H11s. If you are trying this for your fogs, and have H10s you would have to contact them to build an H10 version.

 

So what would be the best headlight upgrade for my third gen that is just plug and play with no harness upgrade? Any feedback would be appreciated. My headlights, especially dims, are not enough. I just want something much better and would be willing to try halogen, HID, and/or LED.

 

Osram Nightbreakers or Philips Xtreme for halogens, but with the 3rd gen projectors you can do HIDs which will be better than LED. Try to find something in the 4000k-4300k temp range for maximum performance.
