A few mods here and there and counting....
I have the same issue. KBvoodoo tailgate cap with At the Helm bed supports. To be fair, the tailgate cap was already hitting the bolt before i installed the supports. I'll switched to lower profile bolts this weekend. The passenger side barely closes(have to slammed the tailgate) but its not a big deal. Just an oddity on my truck. Very happy on how beefy my tailgate feels now.

website says 95$ so the 10$ off just brings it back to 85? That correct?

Just now bought the cap for my 2015 Pre-Runner but not by choice. I have been wanting to replace the stock cap ever since I saw this one late last year for no reason but because I like how it looks. Well today I finally had a reason to pull the trigger. Today is my birthday and I decided to take the day off work and take the boat out fishing with just me and my son. While I'm in the boat, my son is in the truck backing down the launch ramp. Because he is not that great at backing the trailer and needs a clear view behind him, I lowered the tailgate. Well as faith would have it, he jacked knifed the trailer and the winch mount bracket went right into the lowered tailgate. Cut that cheap plastic cap and put a small dent that I am sure the Voodoo cap will cover nicely. To make matters worst, I dropped my I phone and shattered the screen. But regardless of my bad luck, I cherish the time on the water with my son. By the way, thanks for the promo code. It brought the price down to around what the dealership wanted for the cheap OEM one.

So I received my tailgate cap yesterday and just want to point out a few things that kinda bummed me out right out of the box. First, I was not thrilled with the finish. It should be pointed out that the finish is a satin smooth and not the wrinkle finish that I was expecting and that the pictures on the site clearly indicate. With that said, it does not match the OEM side caps. Second, I suggest a slight curve (only if possible) to follow the curve of the tailgate. Third, although it appears every attempt to insure no damage occured during shipping, mine arrived with a small chip on one end. My experience with powder-coating is that once the coating is compromised, d-lamination of the coating is inevitable.

Can someone tell me if the mobtown tailgate re enforcment plate works with the voodoo tailgate protector?

I want the voodoo tailgate protector because it wraps over the tailgate. Right now I have a topper and the rubber seal on that tailgate rubs the paint off my tailgate on the truck.

I want the mobtown smooth tailgate plate mainly so I can kneel on the tailgate without killing my knees on the factory ribs, and smooth spot for my coffee cup lol.

Thanks, can you tell me if your cap works with a topper? My only concern is how your cap sticks out and it appears it will push the topper tailgate out.

You don't want that wrinkle finish. Mine has it and it is rusting like crazy. KBVooDoo realized it was an inferior finish, and corrected it after I got mine.

No disrespect meant towards KB and I am very satisfied with the quality of the product, but the smooth finish just didn't look right. Fortunately and as I mentioned earlier, Line-X is one of my vendors and for a mere $50 was able to have it coated. Looks great and no-longer worried about marring.

We found that the textured coating wasn't as durable, and it was impossible to clean.

KB, to confirm, these caps are now being coated with a smooth finish, correct? I ask because I am getting a slight leak at both corners of my Snugtop's lower windows - specifically where the seal on the topper meets the tailgate. After inspecting the area after a good rain, I've narrowed down the problem to the textured finish on the OEM tailgate cap not creating a proper seal with topper's weatherstripping. I believe your cap would solve this problem.

Additionally, have any second gen owners with a Snugtop Rebel, or similar topper with a one-piece glass rear lift gate, had issues with the gap created by this cap? My window shuts really snug against the tailgate right now and I fear this cap may interfere with it closing tight.

    Yes, smooth finish.

I think you'll like the way it fits with your topper.

I was hoping you would say something in the forum.

First, never once in the 14 messages that we shared together on this topic did you mention rust, nor do I see any in the pictures.

This is the tailgate cap in question:

It does look strange, we have never seen this issue before, and I have no idea what caused it.

If my customer service "sucks" so bad, why did I spend so much time talking to you even though you've been nothing but rude the entire time?

I asked if you wanted a refund or a replacement cap. You chose refund. We gave you a $75 refund for an issue that appears to be purely cosmetic. The tailgate cap still functions perfectly, and a quick spray with some black semigloss will make it look like new again.

You had the opportunity for a replacement and didn't take it.

Also, you paid $119 including shipping, not "over $150".

I AM GOING PICTURE HEAVY. First off great product and easy to install. Very fast shipping. I ordered on Thursday the 20th and received my order on Wednesday the 26th from New York to Colorado (USPS Retail Ground). I did get rid of the plastic inserts and OEM screws. I used some rivnuts and 1/4-20 bolts. I have an ARE CX series topper and had zero issues with fitment. It made a much better seal between the tailgate and rear topper door. I also added a 1/8 thick foam strip to the bottom of the topper door to maybe extend the life of the powder coat on the tailgate cap.

They almost all do. That's actually what led to this product being designed. I was helping a buddy build a deck. I put some lumber on the factory tailgate cap and noticed that it was all loose after that. All but two of the tabs snapped off, and I went, "shit I can make a better cap than that".
