I assumed your codes were at least as strict as ours in that area. Was just curious if you had a better product to use for it other than rotten cotton. That is my go to also.

    Love the stone wall.

Doing some work at my parents house. Dad's residing the house and decided to add some gable rooflines to he house.

Got the metal work mostly done today. Just have to finish up on the other side of the house. Also we did all the stone work last fall around the fountain of the house and extended it up by their bedroom window.

Having just dug through a good 40 2x4x8's at Lowes to get the 5 I need plus digging through a stack and a half of fence board to get the ~150 or so i needed still......Im incredibly jealous of your J grade lumber!

Its not usually readily available , since President Bannon decided to restart the softwood trade war with Canada , lumber prices have spiked so its likely the Japanese buyers are holding off on buying right now so the J grade ends up in domestic market stocks

So now that we're pretty much done framing , we managed to make a decent dent in our formwork materials even without any soffit back framing on this job

So I may have made a small yet big mistake. I was out in my shop yesterday and saw a wasp nest, a bunch of ants and tons of spider webs. So I was like hey let me test out one of these bug bomb things. So I set it off and go in the house to grab a beer and come and watch to see what happens. HOLY FRICKKKK!!! A couple mins later I saw 10+ roaches that were ~3 inches and about 5 spiders! And of course they are headed to my house :annoyed:

So I start smashing these things and my dog was like hey what are these, let me get them too. So its me and my dog going crazy stomping on the ground....beer in hand. I can only imgaine what my neighbors were thinking

But seriously....they were so big those mother frickers would have to pay rent. I aint about that life....end of story I came in and told my wife to sleep with one eye open cause we may have some intruders :goingcrazy::goingcrazy::goingcrazy::goingcrazy:

Agreed. Specifically, I don't trust the tensile strength of anything using the end grain.

That's nuts lol. I was just reading about how to bomb my crawl space, and the article said an unintended consequence of fumigating just one level of a building is that the bugs will just migrate to another level.

I am glad I tested it out. I was planning on doing my crawl space as well and thought about just throwing two under there but I have been reading that they will just leave the crawl space and go into the house...so I have to do the crawl space and house at the same time.

You probably know, but if not, many of the bug bombs contain a flammable propellant. If the one you are using does, make sure to turn off pilot lights or stoves, water heaters, etc and any other possible ignition source.

Remember Arachnophobia. Sometimes you got to go with the flame thrower to get rid of the little fuckers.

Purchased my house in December and finally got home less than a week ago and just finished my first home project today. Water from the gutters was pooling back to the house and created a low spot down the side of the house so i filled it in with some dirt and then put weed barrier down with sand on top and then 72 16"x16" pavers with gravel between them and the house.

    before

    after

Thats looks good. I take it the concrete channel in the second pic is whats dumping all the water in that area. Maybe down the line, remove the pavers, and build a concrete form to continue the channel around the corner and to the front of the house.
