Is this a axle seal leak?

Im guessing the OP is satisfied with the service he received getting his truck repaired for free, new replaced shock and new brakes pads sounds more than fair to me, at 0 cost to him

 

When a manufacturer steps up to the plate and makes good on a warranty pledge, its always a good thing!

Toyota stepped up to the plate +++ by replacing the rear brakes too I doubt that Dodge would do that with 4k miles on the Ram. Just goes to show how Toyota wants to keep customers happy so they will have repeat buyers in the future, that strategy seems to be working except for a minority of habitual crybabies who will never be happy with whatever they do.

 

Many years ago we dropped Chrysler from bidding on new vehicle purchase contract because they refused to honor the warranty on the ones we had on the fleet and we had to foot the bill for fixing their problems.

Warranties are only worth the paper they are printed on, but those who honor their commitments are priceless!

All comes down to dealer service. My dealership service with the few warranty items I had on my ram was top notch. But maybe I shouldn't state that here?

The experience we had was long ago with their infamous lean burn system, and everyone got the shaft back then, but they had many other issue and were tired of the hassle.

Glad your experience has been good, and yes, dealers can make or brake any corporation if they let them. It all starts at the top and the buck stops there when our buck stops flowing there.

I agree with dodges of long ago, the new ones are pretty nice if you drive one.

I'm in 2 toyota's currently so obviously I saw the value they bring as a manufacturer.

I like them all when they're new and under warranty!

 

Toyota Corporation and Dealer service are 2 different things,unless you have some agenda against Toyotas then no matter how great an outcome you will never be happy with them.

 

For the record, I pass by a Ford & Chrysler dealers (both side to side) and I like the looks of the new Doge Revel, it's got the looks!

I own a 2016 4runner Trail Premium and a 2005 tacoma TRD off road, so ya I have "some agenda against Toyota's"

 

This is my 3rd Toyota in 4 years from the same dealer. I had a 2012 Tundra Rock Warrior Double cab that I traded in for the 2017 Tacoma TRD Off road double cab long bed. A few months before that I bought my wife a new 2016 4Runner SR5 Premium. No issues that haven't been covered. I also had 2005 Tacoma until 2012 with zero problems. I replaced the battery and wiper blades and that's it.

 

This post made me go look at a dealer website to see one for the hell of it. Dodge currently has a LOW credit score offer! Wtf? I assume it is because they can charge you an insane interest rate, but that is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. Thank god our economy isn't heavily reliant on auto loans.

 

And as sales are cooling off, the battle for the bottom of the barrel bucks has begun!

The thing that sells those rams is right now they are 25% off msrp. If you need a full sized truck, sit in a $60k ram that you can get thousands cheaper than that trd pro and it's impressive. Yes this is a Tacoma forum, but the features that you can get on that truck (rebel) blow the Tacoma so far out of the water it's not even funny. The Tacoma has its strong points, but I wish you could spec it out more how you want it right from Toyota. In Canada your options are automatic trans or manual basically. For the majority of people (me included likely for my next vehicle) features trump longevity, my ram was near flawless in the 4 years I owned it. Very very minor warranty items (rear shock, mirror and a license plate light fixture) all which were replaced no questions asked.

 

I totally agree with you but the only thing that worries me is that after driving one of those trucks out of the lot they are worth another 25% less. So if some idiot comes buy and totals your truck the idiots insurance is only going to give you the full cash value of the vehicle. So if we do some math....

Assume you pay 45k OTD for the ram.(cash to keep it simple)
True cash value on a used Dodge Ram.. lets keep it conservative and say the truck is now worth $35K after 10k miles.
Some idiot hits you and insurance give you a 40k check.

You literally paid 1 dollar per mile that you drove.
If you pulled out a loan on it, you would be around 10k short of your loan(minus your payments).

So you are now in debt with no truck.

FYI, I read on this forum with a F150 who got it totaled and was short $7k from his loan.
So remember, even if you don't plan to resell, having a good resale value is always a good thing.
Hell I've seen used Tacomas that are worth more than MSRP new.

 

I agree to a certain degree. I bought my 2012 ram sport crew for $36k new and traded it 4 years later for $30k at a Toyota dealership. That 25% off is not on year round. I lost 6k in 4 years on a new truck, that's almost Toyota retained value

 

You must have gotten a good deal on initial purchase. I'm not saying they (full size domestics) are not always a good deal
but its almost a guarantee that the resale value on the tacomas are going to remain(throughout Toyota trucks in general).
I'm happy that you were able to get a good deal on your resale/trade-in.

 

I agree. I was very (too) anal with that truck. I bought the 4Runner so I wouldn't have to be this time round, and still be worth good money if I want to trade down the road.
