2017 Tacoma TRD Sport DCSB Manual
OV Tuned, OME 887 coils, Headstrong 3 leaf AAL, Bilstein 5100's, JBA uca's, Level8 MK6 wheels, BFG KO2's 275/70R17, mesh front grill, Rally Armor mudflaps
My wait is finally over, my inferno TRD sport finally arrived last weekend and I couldn't be happier. I would just like to thank everyone here on the forums for providing so much material for me to read over the last few months which allowed me to wrap my head around options for mods, what works/doesn't work, and what my best bang for the buck would be.

As for the truck, it's a 2017 inferno TRD Sport DCSB manual with the tow package. Decided to skip the tech package since I really didn't need or even want most of it, it just wasn't worth the money for the whole package for the couple things I only kind of wanted. Instead I put that money to use on my first round of mods which I had waiting in the garage before the truck got here since I had to wait just over 3 months for the truck to be built and delivered.

Here's the new truck when I brought it home last saturdayIMG_20170624_114039000_HDR.jpg

And then immediately took it to have my new wheels/tires mounted. Level 8 MK6 17x8 0 offset and 275/70R17 BFG KO2'sIMG_20170624_120133346.jpg

Then brought it home and installed my lift (it was a busy day!). OME 887's, Headstrong Off-road 3 leaf AAL, Bilstein 5100's, JBA uca's, and an ECGS bushingIMG_20170604_174509229.jpg IMG_20170625_204752984.jpg

Then this weekend I painted my grill surround/bezel and installed my new mesh grill, added Rally Armor mudflaps (would rather not have any but I have a feeling rock chips will be obvious on this color), black "Tacoma" lettering on the tailgate, got rid of all the other badging and stickers, and applied 2 coats of Optimum Gloss-Coat sealant.IMG_20170701_193539387.jpg IMG_20170701_193428176.jpg

It has an appointment tomorrow to have a clear bra installed and the front windows tinted to match the rear then that's pretty much it for phase 1, I'm all out of parts! Next things on the list are a trailer brake controller (I have a cheap one on the way for now but would eventually like to do a Redarc controller for the clean install but it's spendy), planning on hard wiring a garage door opener, do the black headlight mod and maybe a set of HID's possibly with RX350 retrofits. But for now it's just time to enjoy this thing for a while and maybe find some back roads to do a little wheeling!

Initial thoughts on the truck: I love the new interior especially with the orange accents, the second gen was just so plain inside. Ride is pretty decent, no complaints for a pickup, driver position is great for me (I'm 5'7") although I could see a taller person feeling a little cramped height wise. Power wise it's gutless but I knew that going in, but a manual trans makes anything more fun to drive, and the gas mileage sucks considering a 1/2 ton Silverado gets better, I'm averaging 15, maybe it will go up as it breaks in? Overall I'm quite happy with it, I hope it can serve me well for many years, maybe even be my future kids first car lol.

Oh and obligatory picture of what I came from, a 2008 STi, had it for about 5 years and had an '05 wrx before that. Yes I miss it, I knew I would, but it was time to move on, that scene is turning more and more into what the Civic was 10-15 years ago. I'll have another fun/go-fast car again hopefully in a year or so when the sting of raping my bank account heals, but keep the Tacoma of course!IMG_20170219_160728338_HDR.jpg

Were you able to get any before and after measurements of the lift and what setting are the bilsteins set to?

Get the Flash2Pass garage door opener. It taps onto the high beam wires and works really well. I also have it on my motorcycle.

I would have liked the locker but I had to be honest with myself and admit that as much as I would like to think I'll be billy badass on the trails, this is my DD and I'm realistically not going to want to put a brand new truck in a situation bad enough to need a locker anyway, at least not in the relatively near future. Down the road when it's got some years under it's belt I probably won't feel so bad about pushing it harder and at that point can add an arb locker. Aside from that I knew I was going to be upgrading the suspension anyway so that didn't make any difference off road vs sport, so it just came down to looks at that point.

Great looking truck!!! I opted out of the tech package while I was putting together the options. The ONLY thing I wanted from the tech package was the heated seats!

Also. If the truck is still brand new. Invest in a full nose clear bra. I had one out on for under 400$ installed. Well worth the money!

Ya I'm in the Tri Cities,WA. Did you just get yours also? Chris at Rogers told me about a quicksand one that had been ordered and got there at the same time as mine, he said they were putting a lift and exhaust on it before delivery.

I have before measurements but I wrote them on the back of an envelope and i can't remember where I put it, I hope I didn't throw it away with all the boxes/packing material that the lift came in. I'll try to find it today and get some after measurements too.

Ok I found my measurements from before, so stock I was at:

    Front left: 21 1/8
    Front right: 21 1/8
    Rear left: 22
    Rear right: 22

    And after I'm at:

    Front left: 23 1/8
    Front right: 23 1/8
    Rear left: 23 7/8
    Rear right: 24

This is with the Bilsteins set at the bottom notch and using the headstrong off-road 1/4" top plate spacer on the driver's side front strut to compensate for the taco lean. Both sets of measurements were taken with an almost full tank of fuel and nobody/nothing else in the truck. Measurements are from center of hub to fender but take that with a grain of salt, it's hot out on that concrete so I was a little bit hasty while taking them, give or take an 1/8 of an inch or so. Also, I installed the lift last weekend and just took the after measurements today so the new suspension has had a week and about 200 miles of driving to settle in.
