My leaf springs squeak horribly after something minor like a speed bump. I've got under and blasted the leaf springs in hopes to get rid of debris caught in between. It silenced for about twenty minutes of driving around. But when it's "dried up" under there, squeaking again. Could this be the bushings?

    It's the leafs. Toyota sucks.

Some dealerships fix them; others say it's normal(acceptable).

Mine got bad then seem to have gotten better without any intervention from me. I can't hear the squeaking inside the truck at least.

My dad's old ass Dodge Dakota doesn't squeak and he hasn't really taken care of it. #letsgoplaces

I never had squeaky leaf springs taking my 94 4 X 4 v6 access cab off road. Also never had any problems with squeaky leaf springs on my 85 F 150 4 x 4 or my 95 4 Cyl. Hilux.

I spray mine liberally with wd-40 silicon when i get the squeaks. Toyota offered to replace them under warranty but I declined.

Edit: I also tried Fluid Film on the leaf springs and that did nothing to silence them.

    Brand new so nothing yet.
2500 miles and mine squeaks just when I get out. Maybe if I lose a few pounds it will stop. Haha.

I blame fine dirt getting in between. Any short dirt roads that you go through?
Try washing it down a couple of times to clean in between the leafs.

Logic doesnt make sense to you much does it?

If one dakota you've personally experienced doesnt squeek, then you assume they all dont and Dodge trucks get an a-ok from you.

Yet, your own personal diff howls, you assume all do and Toyotas suck. If leafs squeak you assume all do and Toyotas suck.

    Okay.

    Since you brought up logic...

Can you explain the logical leap you made that caused you to assume that was my thought process? (That I think all dodges are a-ok)

You made the illogical jump. I was just comparing my 1 year old truck to a 10+ year old truck that hasn't been taken care of.

white lithium grease/WD 40 helps on the plastic spring isolators, they will rub the edge of the spring and cause squeaking.

I brought up logic from your previous posts and general mentality when it comes to the trucks, not specifically this post.

I just think you're assuming ALL third (turd gen in your words) have issues. Hate to break it to you, but things have issues whether its 1 day old or 1 million days old. You cant really just throw a blanket generalization like that (illogical). It sucks you and some others have had issues but a public toyota forum probably isnt the best demographic to correctly base how good or bad a product is when theres only such a small percentage who are actually active on said forums vs the general public.

And recalls happen. Thats what companies do. Address issues that will get fixed by the manufacturer. It doesnt mean the whole company or product is trash like you make it out to be. Nothing will ever be 100% perfect. Once (if) toyota issues a stop sale and buys back the whole truck from the masses then I think that is a more reasonable time to call toyota out on their "turd" gens.

You are posting strawman arguments and debating yourself. I haven't even argued with you. You came in throwing out claims that I am being illogical, when it's pretty obvious that you don't actually know what "logical" is.

    Quit derailing the thread.
