Well I brought my truck in today to have the TSB applied and when they gave it back to me it had the new springs, but the old shocks. I had to argue with them a bit to get them to agree to install the shocks, but they did acknowledge that it was their mistake and said they would call me after the shocks were installed.

I never knew about these TSB's, or if there was any for my 96 Tacoma LX. I paid over $1,400 for them to replace my 3 leafs to 4 3 years ago. The middle leaf on both sides were split in half right in the middle. It was such a clean break, I thought they were designed that way. I heard some loud scraping noise and noticed the middle leaf slipped out of alignment. I jacked it up and slipped it back into place. The heaviest thing I ever carried on the bed was a couch and I had a fiberglass cap on it. I went to a Toyota service shop and asked them for a couple of U-bolts for the leafs that came off. He looked at me funny and inspected my truck. He told me they were broken and that I was lucky the middle leaf didn't slip out into the wheel at speed or there would have been some serious damage or worse.
I should have complained to Toyota back then and maybe they would have paid for the replacements. My truck was 9 years old at the time and I thought they might have said "your warranty expired. Sorry, can't help you." Since it was a danger on the road, I had no choice but to have them fix it right away.
The ride felt so much better with the new leafs.

It looked like they did the alignment after installing the new springs. Should I have them do it again after the new shocks?

Also, I'm concerned that they will only install 2 shocks instead of all 4. Any advice as to what to tell them if there are only 2 shocks installed when I go to pick the truck up?

Thanks for all of your help!

The TSB has the parts to order & how to perform the service. Its four shocks not two, tell them to read the TSB or print out a copy & bring it with you? Also, by the sounds of the dealership, I'd ask for a copy of the alignment for your records. How do you know the alignment was done by looking? The machine gives a print out.

I'm fairly certain that only the non-trd trucks get new shocks (bilsteins). When they did mine, I only got the rear leaf springs and the alignment.

I saw on the print-out they gave me that the alignment was done. I also saw that shocks were ordered but it was itemized strangely so I couldn't tell if they ordered 2 or 4.

Mine is non-TRD so I should get the shocks.

yep.....you get 4 shocks and an alignment added to the leaf springs also. make sure they give you a print out of the alignment.....better safe than sorry later on, as your tires will wear bad if the alignment isnt performed.

OK here is my TSB story for my 08 Taco.

Four weeks ago drove into the dealership and told them my problem with a low ride and what seamed to be a bottom out with two bikes loaded.
They said only up to 07's I said same part numbers and same problem, they said sorry no can do.
Returned two weeks later, complained again, they said they would call Toyota; did not hear back from them, I called back, they said sorry no can do.
Back to the dealership again to talk to my sales guy, explained the problem, he calls Toyota, sorry no can do.
I then ask the service manager to call Toyota, I go back 1.5 weeks later because he does not call me back and then says sorry no can do.
I read a bit more here on the forum get the 1-800# to call Toyota yesterday.
The guy from Toyota is very nice and says will get back to me in a few days.
I get a call back the same day from the dealership service manager to say "Toyota called they said we can fix your problem"
The truck goes in on Monday for the new springs and shocks.

Well I got my truck back and there are 4 new shocks on it. However, the rear shocks are black and the front shocks are yellow. Did they install the wrong shocks on the rear?

Well, the front springs are definitely Bilsteins, but the part #'s are different. The back shocks are not Bilsteins, but say 'Tokito' or something like that on them.

    Here are the part #'s:
    Front: 48510-AD060
    Rear: 48530-04020

Does anyone know what they put on my truck?
