I just drive mine (auto trans) to and from work, shifting has not been a problem for me.

Comments like this literally blow my mind. I live around rolling hills. My truck can't average over 19 mpg on the best day and I haven't used D in 6 months because of shifting issues. Today I drove 70 miles of rolling hills on the interstate and could not maintain 70 on any incline without shifting into 4th gear. I averaged 18 mpg. I have had fluid checked and the most recent transmission TSB update. Both these things made minimal impact on driveability.

The difference in opinion on the power and transmission is so bizarre to me.

Yeah it is pretty amazing. Here I am, even with a manual transmission, getting rid of the truck soon in part due to the horrible engine management (in my opinion) while others are saying theirs are perfect and have loads of torque/power. Really makes me wonder.

I think it's more about expectations. The mind is a powerful thing. You read TW enough and buy into the histeria, it's easy to subconsciously truly believe your truck sucks.

That honestly doesn't look like the inside of an engine with only 35 K's on it, looks more like one with 235K on it.

Maybe you are right... I have made a strong mental note that when I trade it in I'm not looking at the forum of the new vehicle.

Even with the Manual the lack of Low End Torque is very noticeable

My 04 ranger 4x4 with the 4.0 was as reliable as my 10 Tacoma. My 15 F150 with the 5.0 has been problem free (for 3 years old) and is truly a pleasure to drive with the engine and trans combo. The 10 speed that just came out is way too new to make any comments about. Don't just judge based on old reputations. Ford has come an extremely long way. No vehicle is perfect but I'm getting the same mpgs I did in my 2nd gen taco with a smooth v8. I do miss the maneuverability of the midsize and will look into the ranger once it's released. If Toyota fixes these problems that some have it'd be a great buy as I think the look nice with a different grill

I had a friend in Canada with the eco boost go through 3 motors in two trucks before he told them to pound sand. He lived in Vancouver and worked at a remote mine and the truck left him stranded many times in sub zero temps for 3+ hours. Last straw was the truck nuking itself with his 8 month old baby in the truck. I had high hopes for that thing. Another friends on his second after the first was bought back for the same issues.

I didn't buy an ecoboost motor as the 1st gens had issues (some others were prob free). The newer ecos have been great from feedback. The 2.7 gets the same mpgs as the diesel GM twins. The new gen ecos also have port and direct injection as well. I'll always like a v8 for fullsize but man that 2.7 in the ranger would be sweet. Every car/truck now seems to have issues. Even Hondas aren't without their nannies it seems. Just pick what you like and enjoy it. The only car company I stay away from is fiat. Although guys at my job love their Rams and haven't had many issues.

I have had many turbo cars in the past. The known fact is reliability isn't the turbo engine strong suite. 100k miles you're start thinking about turbo rebuild. Oil leaks. Worn out HPFP. Intercooler full of oil. My RS4s dash was littered with error lights. It's nice and fast when it's new but I wouldn't touch one used if it has 75k in it

This. I drove one for 3 year stock and spun a rod bearing at 42000mi and the turbo at 50000. CPS at 80000. Very fun car but piss poor reliability.

I had stage 2 chip and turbo back exhaust. Otherwise stock. I loved that car so much.

That's basically stock, any stock turbo car should be relatively reliable with proper maintenance. IMO (which means nothing) a v6 turbo motor being tasked to do what some of these trucks do. For speed I agree with boosted cars being great but sometimes the old saying "there's no replacement for displacement" is right.

If I could afford a TT supra that'd be my dream but in reality I'll be getting a coyote mustang for a toy. Even with a blower on them the make 600+whp no problem.

A lot of the Chevy products are foreign built power plants, the trucks are assembled in Mexico.

I believe the Colorado and Canyon are made in Missouri.
