It's easiest to run it through the ac drain grommet directly under the glove box. Look for the tube that runs through the hole in the carpet at the very back, right where the carpet ends

There are a hell of a lot of grommets underneath. If you open the passenger door, and pull the outer trim piece straight up, it comes off. Then you can lift up the edge of the carpet and see a 2" diameter black rubber grommet right under the passenger seat. You can also see it from the outside if you look under the truck.

I cut it with a razor, ran the cable through and just put some silicone all around it

I've ran power from a fuse as well as straight from the battery. So far I've preferred the fuse becaues sometimes I forget to turn off the CB.

Through a small 1/4 inch hole I made behind the rear seat. It's worth mentioning that I ran the cable and then built the connectors at either end myself. I have really detailed pics on my build thread if you want to see how I did it.

Has anyone tried using a pedestal CB mount. I have used these in a couple of different trucks that I had. I was able to use my Cobra 29 and then my Uniden 980 with it. I just screwed it into the cup holder that I never used, and when I traded the truck in, took it out. Worked great. I was a little skeptical at first, but this was able to handle the weight of either one of these CB radios.

Link below, hopefully the link will work, and the mount will also work for those that may be interested.

I still think this place I mounted mine is the best. It's easy to see, and not in the way of the passenger. Could even be mounted with some double sided tape to avoid holes.

The problem (at least with 3rd gen) is that the cup holders aren't in a good spot. I was able to fit mine in the small area just in front of the shifter with little issue. Even helped with the cable routing.

Yes, they are very close to the shifter as well as to the dash, I know when I used this setup in other vehicles; there was more room. Granted they were full size trucks, but the mount is also adjustable and can be set at different angles. Still not the easiest setup due to the space provided. That is why I have not yet installed either of the two CB's that I have. I may sell them both and get the President Mc Kinley CB.

    https://president-electronics.us/CB-Radios-Ham-Radios/AM-SSB-transceivers/MC-KINLEY-USA

There is a $50 mail in rebate available on it for a while yet, and paired with my Wilson 5000. I should be good to go. May be able to mount that easier due to the size.

Idk what your preferences are, but you can check out the uniden that I installed. It's in my build thread.

So I know very little about CBs. We used to use them for fishing on the coast/big lakes. What use do they have for off roading? Weather features sound pretty cool. Scanning is always fun on long drives. What else is there?

It's easier to communicate with the trucks in front of and behind you, a lot safer than just yelling when someone might not hear you. A lot of places off-road have no cell service

Exactly as mentioned. Just an easy, cheap way to keep comms in a group of trucks. Makes wheeling a lot more fun.

That makes sense. One of the pages mentioned a PA. Did they mean like an actual announcement system. I could get some good entertainment out of that..

Yeah, a lot of CBs have PA capability, and you can get a little $10 speaker on Amazon and yell at people on the trail. It's not super loud, but pretty fun.

Recommendations for a PA enabled system? Was looking at the Cobra 75WSXT for its small footprint but I'd love a PA lol

That's the radio itself, it's the one I have and I'm very pleased with it. You'll needn't a radio, antenna, coax cable, speaker, and a mount for your antenna. Also an swr meter if you don't have access to one so you can tune your antenna
