2017 Grille

I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport, Black in color. A few weeks ago possibly a bird hit the front grille and cracked it while I was doing 60 MPH.

The Grille molding is broken and so is the actual upper grille. I checked with the dealer and found Toyota only sells the entire grille assemble for $567.00.

I neglected to get the part number so I need that. I am also left wondering what kind of plastic the upper grille is made from as there is some pretty good glues available that may make a temporary fix for now.

Which actual part is broken? If its the grille insert, most people replace it with either a TRD Pro or aftermarket grille so there are plenty of used/take offs for a lot cheaper than what you were quoted. Check the classifieds section. You may even get lucky and find the painted surround too for your color.

 

Count yourself lucky. You have the perfect justification for a TRD PRO grill now. That bird took one for the team.

yep, for sure the birds alway target on the shining grilles, i saw it's happened couple weeks ago.... Not my truck, i already bbp color black out.

 

I have literally seen people giving these stock grilles away. Don't pay a dealer for one. Find someone on here who upgrade for a trd pro grille and get the stocker for cheap.

 

Yes that is how I got mine "Pay it Forward" I sent my SR5 grille to Oklahoma.

 

The grille molding that surrounds the grille insert many replace and the Black Plastic grille holder itself, the part the insert attaches too, that many remove to place a LED Light behind the lower grille. I will try to get some photos up today.

I just had a bird dive bomb my windshield a couple days ago, hit pretty hard and was glad it did not break, sorry to hear your grille got damaged but finding a replacement should be easy on here

 

According to the dealer the Black Plastic upper grille is not available separately. The chrome molding is at about $80.00. The grille itself was not harmed.

The rest of the photos were not supposed to be posted, however it is my Scorpion SA-680 HF Ham Radio antenna, it weighs 18 lbs alone. I have a boxed common mode coil to replace the exposed one with the red tape on it.

 

Thought you might have been trying to scrub your exhaust at first.

 

Damn birds....i used to always have them go kamikaze and try to fly into my hood scoop on my STi...

 

Sorry about your grill, but on another subject what is a ham radio and what is it used for? I've always wondered that
