    Some functions may be year specific. The ECU has to use it for the SCII to read it.

    Ok. I was just wanting to make sure it would read the trans temp on my 04 DC 4x4. Since the truck temp gauge basically shows it's cold or you're screwed! Engine & trans temp share the same gauge too.

    In the 2nd gen the tranny temp reads at two places: torque converter and the oil pan. The torque converter fluctuate too much to get a constant reliable temp. I use the oil pan code to read the tranny temp.

    It may not. Their web page states '05 and up for that X gauge.

    Not sure what you mean by 'sharing' engine and trans temp. Those are two distinct functions. The water temp is a standard output, the trans temp is an X gauge. In normal conditions the coolant will be around T stat temps, the trans will be a good bit cooler.

    I meant the stock temp gauge in the truck has the same gauge for trans temp & engine temp. Or at least it says trans temp right next to the stock temp gauge. Only on automatics obviously
