    Just the basics
Mom's are incredible and mine is sorely missed. Her passing however has allowed me to begin exploring the outdoors. I was always fearful of leaving on trips. I was back east once and when I got back I found out she had fallen and broken her hip. But the salty Lt. Col. nurse that she was did more than most people I know during that experience. I work in healthcare and have seldom encountered anyone who could drag themselves to the shower and somehow get a change of clothes so that when the paramedics got there she would be "presentable". Take care of your mom, these times you are in now will fuel the rest of your life and you will be more than proud you were there for her.

The timing worked out and we camped at the Blue Heron Music Fest in Western New York 16 hours after picking up our Tacoma at the dealership. Tons of fun with a lot of good folks and music. IMG_1577.jpg

Had an awesome trip over to the coast, got bummed at first with options for places to stay, slab city and just all around packed but that led to adventure and finding pretty awesome spots anyways. Good all around.

For those of you that camp in the truck bed under a truck cap, do you seal the tailgate and hatch, or do you find it sufficiently bug proof? I live in the north, and we have mosquitoes like crazy around this time of year. I can see light coming through pretty big gaps, particularly between the tailgate and bed.

The same shit everyone else has.
I went through and sealed as many of the gaps as I could on my truck, I did it to keep the dust out but Im sure itll keep a few mosquitoes out too.

Thanks for the info, I'll maybe throw the tent in the truck for the first trip just in case, but looking forward to having a go at building a sleep platform and using the truck for hunting/fishing excursions.

It aint Moab, but it was a successful camping test. We head out every year for some island camping up in Maine, so we wanted to do a quick test with the setup. As our first RTT in our "new" 2010 Taco, we were pleased how great everything worked. Just a quick trip up to a buddy's homestead up in NH for an overnight. No need for bars when the cooler and every tote fit neatly under the 2X6 crossbars. Better pics from Maine coming. Plenty of room for more totes in the back.

Not sure about the Tacoma, but for most vehicles it is better to hook up to the back of your truck and pull the load going forward instead of reverse... nevertheless Impressive
