    This and that...
IMG_8322.jpg IMG_8323.jpg So while camping above 10,000 ft., a marmot crawled under my truck and hitch a 2.5 hour drive to Denver. That night she proceeded to chew several wires and my washer fluid tube. Long story short, we managed transport for her back to the same spot in the mountains.

My question is if my truck is safe to drive until its appointment at the mechanic shop next week? The check engine light is on and so is the Trac Control Off light. It starts fine and driver around the block went fine. Any any answers would be great. Thanks!

Looks like the wires that go to the antilock system. It probably also controls the A-trac.

Silver rectangular box is called "fuel pump resistor" by Toyota. All I know, from a dual battery experiment had to move it.

That would explain the light. Antilock isn't necessary unless I'm on bad roads though. correct?

The biggest issue that could be a problem would be if a 12v power wire got connected together with a computer signal wire. I would separate all the bare wires from other wires. You may want to turn this in on your comprehensive insurance.

That would make sense, because on my son's 4runner we have gotten the check engine, trac off and antilock lights on when the gas cap was bad.

Tape every "shiner" (bare copper wire) individually to avoid a short if you're going to drive it in. But if insurance is covering it, why risk driving it? I don't know how far you are from your dealership, but the average tow around here is $50-75. Well worth it to avoid any complications that the insurance company can dispute. Especially since they should cover the tow.

Ah the joys of soy-based insulation. And good on you for returning mom to the mountains.

I've seen people string chicken wire or plastic fencing around their vehicles when parked in marmot country. I may have to take up the habit next time I'm up there.

I've heard Fluid Film acts as a good pest repellent but I can't personally verify this.
