    One of our dogs is afraid of storms, fireworks, etc and the prescription did NOTHING to help him. We could give it to him in advance to try and let it be working before the storms came and he would still flip shit. I've tried thundershirts and all kinds of stuff and nothing works to keep him calm. One of the last times we had a really bad thunderstorm he was trying to rip open the door to the laundry room and even though I said his name several times before I went to try and get him he was so afraid that he bit me when I grabbed his collar. He has ruined 3 crates, ripped half the bedroom door off as well as the surrounding trim, and destroyed a matress because he would get under the blankets on our bed and just piss himself out of fear. He wrecks anything and everything in his way when he's scared.

    Ouch. Xanax works for ours, and we're glad for that; two of her litter of 7 have passed away, due to heart issues. The only side affect is that after it wears off, she is a little wild child for a 1/2 day or so, but that's fun to watch.

    Xanax doesn't work for mine, either. However, she will go into the dark laundry room and curl up in the basket of dirty clothes. It's dark, it's quiet, and it smells of her family. She won't come out, but she's managing better.
