Just turned 61 in May. Bought my Tacoma right after retiring at age 55 after wearing out (in descending order) a 98 Ford F150, 91 Jeep Cherokee, 87 Ford Ranger, 63 Chevy C10, 50 Chevy 3100, and 66 Ford F100 along with numerous cars (only listed the light trucks).

Welcome to the group Jerry . Quite a group of vehicles you passed through. Had a 63 Chevy Impala Coupe. Loved that car, but needed a pickup so sold it off and been in pickups ever since. Enjoy the thread.

Welcome Jerry! Pull up a chair, plenty of room on the porch. Is there one of those old vehicles in particular that you wish you could still drive?

All of them were important in one way or another, and all of them could tell some stories. If I had enough money and enough room I wouldn't mind having a copy of any or all of them.

I did leave out one "light truck", an 87 Suzuki Samurai that was my 4-wheel drive companion prior to getting this Tacoma. It wasn't much to look at, but it never failed me.

Which reminds me of the fact that you can get stuck in any vehicle, 4-wheel drive just allows you to get stuck further away from civilization. This fact was demonstrated multiple times when I was growing up. Dad (still going strong at 84) went through a succession of IH Scouts and Scout II's. He had a knack for getting them stuck, and it was always my brother and I who had to either dig it out, go cut brush, jack it up, or push it out. I think that he was fearless knowing that he had two strapping teenage boys to get him out of trouble.

Hi Ken. I had a lot going on with my back earlier in the year, physical therapy helped me out there, then getting ready for a graduation party in May with a vacation to the outer banks right after that. Just chillin with normal home and car maintenance items now. We put a new roof and garage doors on the house in early May.

Hoping for the Finance options on a 2017 Avalon will come up 0% over 72 months for July.

Hope your back is doing better Tom, they can be a real pain in the "BACK" LOL. find I'm somewhat busier now that I've been retired then when I was working. Keeps us young I guess. Take care of yourself and stick around for a bit.

Watch out for the loose board on the end.
Someone who will remain nameless has not fixed it yet.

X whatever on the welcome Jerry .... it's an interesting bunch of folks.

Tom, my lower back pains mysteriously went away a few months ago. Don't know why! Still working out on my monster multi-station machine three times a week but quit doing the quack's stretching exercises and the situps (sp?).

Carl, since our previous "Commander in Chief" didn't know how to pronounce CORPSMAN, I'm curious how he would have pronounced BOATSWAIN. Your guess??

    Tex

One other thing Carl. Came out of Wally Mart this morning and saw a truck with a huge sticker on the back window .... the typical skull and crossbones and the words (in Gothic font) that said FISH FEAR ME !! And I immediately thought of you.

The stretching is working for me. I had a period of 18 weeks with no pain now 5 days waking up to pain in the right leg. Trying to remember what I did last Friday to aggravate the spine.

I have come to believe that any Commander in Chief needs to have served in the military. The last two Commander in Chiefs have been a little to eager to send our sons and daughters off to war.

9 Walleye should be very encouraging. The big ones will probably show up soon.

Good morning Carl. I hope the fish are biting for you and the repair work around the home is completed. ;)

Lost my CAT5 connection to the upstairs computer yesterday. I think the roofers nicked the cable in the attic. I had to fix the connection back in May when the roof was replaced. Hope I can find 4 good wires for the Ethernet connection this morning. The thought of pulling another cable is not very pleasant.

Fixed the wiring problem one or maybe both os the CAT5 connecting blocks went bad. Replaced them both.

Still a busy man Tom. Glad it wasn't anything major with the cat 5 cable itself. Take care of yourself.

Once again, no fish....but we got to see wildlife in action. Not 20 yards away, an osprey dove into the water and came up with a fish! Kind of thing often seen on nature programs, but to see it right in front of us was a thrill. Plus, it flew right over the boat on its way home. Probably said...hey you, that's how it's done.
