When I was driving yesterday I noticed the AC stopped blowing cold. I looked to see if the light was on for the max AC and it was flashing. I pushed the max AC button and the AC started blowing cold again. I have 27000 miles and this is happened 3 times. Has this happened to anyone if so what is wrong with the truck

Get your pressures checked. My guess is that you have a clogged accumulator and it is causing pressure to deadhead so high to the point where the compressor shuts off until it can safely re stabilize. Rinse and repeat. Either way, you would have to replace the accumulator if that so is the case.

The light flashes when there is a problem with the magnetic clutch. With only 27000 miles you should be under the bumper to bumper warranty. I would take it into Toyota and let them take care of it.

Flashing light indicates a problem with compressor rpm.
We have had some bad relays in the past with will do this.
Also your compressor could be starting to tighten up and slip the clutch.

I am still on the 36000 mile warranty and then I have an extended warranty to 75000 so Toyota better fix it. Thank for the info.

I'd prefer you have an AC compressor before accumulator issue. If the light is flashing then you do indeed have an issue with the clutch.

Our trucks do not have an accumulator. They have a receiver-drier built into the condenser.

Hey, anyone have this issue on a 2015?

My 2015 DCSB TRD off road (20k miles) has had the same problem for over a year now. AC light flashes and air goes warm. Took it to local dealer (San Jose, CA) a year ago and couldn't replicate the problem so ended up paying for diagnostics and an EVAC recharge with no fix.

Started having the problem again this year (haven't needed the AC much since last summer) and finally took it in on Saturday morning. They were able to replicate the problem once but still no solve. The replaced the AC relay and tested the old one. Old one had no issues so put it back in the truck. They've been running the truck for a few hours since and issue hasn't come up again yet. I'm picking it up tomorrow, and I'm sure this problem going to come up again. I asked if I could bring it straight back if it does and they said absolutely.

I shared with them a few threads from this site pointing to an issue with the AC compressor but they don't have anything documented for a 2015.

Everything I read looks like it's an issue with the AC compressor so if someone else has had this issue, I'd love to hear what it took to get the Toyota dealership to recognize that as the problem.

    Thanks!
    Andrew

Any update? I just picked my truck up this morning. AC worked on my way into work but I'm going to try to get it to fail this evening so I can drive it back into them.

I feel weird hoping for something to fail, but the randomness of when it happens is almost worse than if it just stopped working intirely.

Ever get this resolved? Mine has done it twice. I was parked the second time waiting in the pick up line at school so i shot a video of the blinking light. Havent had time to take it to the dealer. Im just wondering if they will fix under warranty.

I still haven’t gotten it fixed. It’s been taken to local dealer (San Jose, CA) 4 times. They can’t figure it out. It’s now to the point that it malfunctions 3 out of 4 times I use the AC, so don’t expect anything but for it to get worse.
