You also have to factor in that Toyota failed miserably to make it's millennium goals to grow the brand by "X" amount before 2020. Given that's happened I wonder if a shakeup could happen if one of their lines suffered a drop off. That's probably wishful thinking though.

If they want to increase some sales. Turbo the Toyota 86. I think the biggest reason people aren't buying that car is the lack of HP.

Yeah. I really like that car minus the current engine. The supercharger kits available are pretty sweet though. The Cosworth one puts up amazing times.

Every review you read about that car asks for a Turbo from the Factory. Besides that fact it gets good reviews.

All Toyotas sports cars have been commercial failures in the US except the 86. However, evem the 86 is currently being outsold by the mustang nearly 10 to 1.

I agree they Ranger will probably get a smaller EcoBoost and maybe the 3.3 NA. No way Ford will make a small truck with 470 lb ft of torque. With an aluminum body and smaller size, a smaller turbo 4 banger should give it a good power to weight ratio.

I believe they are changing the styling for the North America market. I would!

This is the global version. Why do people keep posting this thinking it's gonna be how the US Ranger will look. This would be like someone posting a pic of the Hilux saying it's the next Tacoma. Do some research.

When I bought my Canyon back in Feb. 2016 - they couldn't keep them on the lots. They couldn't produce them fast enough. Dealerships are limited by an 'allotment' of inventory. Some dealerships are allowed 12 Colorados or Canyons on the lot at any given time, others only 3 or 4. Why? If I had to guess - its because they only have one manufacturing plant (Missouri) that they share that plant with Cargo Vans and Industrial work trucks. I'm sure there's a method to their madness. I'm sure GM knows exactly how many trucks they can physically build and limit the dealerships accordingly so everyone gets some. You rarely (if ever) see any discount deals, promotions, and no commercials on TV for Colorado's or Canyons (at least not in my area).

As for Toyota - there are 3 plants? Texas, California, and Mexico?
They produce far more units than anyone and their dealer lots of full of inventory. When your lots are full of inventory - its easy to offere deals and incentives to move product (and make sales/revenue).

If GM had 3 plants and were able to crank out the units -offer incentives & discounts - would the sales numbers be closer?

Toyota closed the California plant years ago. The Texas plant shares production with the Tundra.

Looks different than the spy photo for the American Ranger.

I know but I also feel bad for people in the International markets who are stuck with that truck as a option.

Exactly. That's because the US Ranger styling is still a tightly-guarded secret.

I don't think it's their mindset in this situation, they are using the 3.5 in damn near every platform they sell whether it's a good fit or not in clearly a cost slashing exercise.
