But its a dry heat.

Most folks who've lived there a number of years (like my new neighbors) absolutely melt their first few summers here. :D
Im sure you mean qts insteas of 5 gallons. Even 5 quarts of full syn id be shocked if they had sales for $10. Ive seen bulk semi synthetic at that price but 0w20 is a full synthetic and i dont think ive ever seen full syn under 2.50 a qt
haha yes, my bad, 5 qt jug.

Mobil has their biannual rebates where you get $12 back on a 5 qt jug. I pick them up at walmart anywhere between 21-23 dollars

I do the same thing, the $12 rebate on Mobil 1 makes it a killer bargin.

Where can you get a lab test done? Seems to be overkill but what do I know. I still get 2 free oil changes but I would like to do my own but I want the best oil. I'm not sure if dealers use the good stuff and I like to stay away from dealers as much as I can. I have a local guy service( which is the best body man painter in our area) my wifes 03 beetle because they are a little tricky. We supply the oil Castrol Syntec 10w30. But I can do my truck.

Blackstone labs is who I use for oil analysis. They'll keep records on your sent in samples for you and they provide a brief explanation of the results.

    Ya gotta love oil threads...

Everyone has an opinion, but in all reality, they are all pretty good. Personally, I go for Amsoil XL as I do not even come close to putting the amount of miles on my vehicles where the Amsoil Signature Series would even start to be worth it. Using the XL line, I still get well into a 6 month OCI and I would have to rotate my tires anyway, so it works for me. The UOA I did on my wife's 2010 Honda Pilot showed I had ample base when the oil life meter on it was <10% and it was right at 6 months, so I was comfortable at that and saved a few bucks over the SS line.

One thing on Mobil 1 that I do NOT like is that they have really watered down their lineup. You have at least 4 different grades of their M1 0W-20 oil from 'High Mileage', 'Extended Performance', 'Annual Protection', and 'Advanced Fuel Economy'... so, which one is the real M1?? What, if any, is the difference between all those??

Head over and read https://bobistheoilguy.com/... you'll learn a lot more than you ever wanted.

The thing about oil is that you don't need "the best" for most applications, a Tacoma being one of those. If you change the oil often enough with just about anything in the correct weight that is certified the engine will outlast most of the other major components 99% of the time. I use Mobil 1 because Costco sells it in 6 quart boxes for $27 a few times a year and then a lot of the time you can get a rebate on top of that.

Found out today they change the oil every 10K and add Krex every 5K , so for all the benefits and 10 year/200K warranty on engine comes out to around 260$ a year
Not sure what I'll do after my last free service

+1 for Blackstone labs. Which reminds me, I totally goofed on my 10k service and forgot to provide a jar for the tech to pull a sample.
I've ran Mobile 1 full synthetic on every car I've owned, no complaints. It still weirds me out pouring in the 0w20 oil though, SO thin and watery like. When I was growing up, helping pops work on cars it seemed like 10W30 & 5w20 were the norm. At work we run 15w40 on our heavy diesels and tractors. That stuff is like molasses in comparison to the 0w20 in the Taco.

Don't forget the K-Y jelly, never go in dry. :playball:

For those that used a trd oil filter, make any difference? (Mileage, color of oil, actual filtering)
