Every time I see a RTT, I try to imagine climbing down that ladder to take a piss after a night of heavy drinking.

They do look cool though. :anonymous:

after living out of tent on a glacier for about 3 weeks I never ever sleep in a tent without a pee bottle anymore...

pee bottle is an essential part of my tent gear now

I got my CVT for 1300 during the group buy. There are some from different companies that are cheaper but that's because they use cheaper materials. I just got to use my tent for the first time this past weekend and I can honestly say it was the best night of sleep I've had while camping. They are expensive but totally worth it if you get one when on sale. Here's a pic from my trip.

No way I would use that. Read the following review:
I use the Walmart Ozark Trail 64oz steel bottle with wide mouth, crush-proof and leak-proof, and only $10:

Question about the annex. I also have a mid-height rack and have not yet used the annex because I was afraid it would be too long and drag the ground. What exactly did you do there to get it to stay as you have in the pic? Looks like an awesome solution

so the only thing I could add here is that I wasnt feeling the need for crush proof that much, i empty the piss out as soon as I am out of the tent, the nalgene is leak proof though, so as long as you dont stab the plastic you are in the clear, I tend to just leave the pee bottle right in the vestibule (ground tent obviously)

A Gatorade bottle of sufficient volume works well as a pee bottle too. Just make sure you don't mistake it for gatorade.

I used a pee bottle on my last 2 Grand Canyon trips (in winter for both). They are wonderful when it is cold out and you don't want to have to stumble to the river to pee (all liquid waste goes in the river).

The annex actually has some spots on the inside that have Velcro. You just connect the Velcro and voila it brings the bottom up about a foot to keep it from getting damaged on the ground.

Wow, this is very helpful! Also highlights how I am just plain lazy for not having tried to put the annex on! LOL :thumbsup:

So my friend with a 23zero tent and I with a 2 person REI ground tent started and finished in about the same time with setup. He had another person helping him too. We had the conversation that there really isn't a "bonus" with how fast a rtt can be set up. It's just more about not having to find that "right" spot. Although with a rtt you still have to park the truck as level as you can, so the benefits are basically just being off the ground as far as I can tell. Would I like a rtt, yes, can I justify the cost at this point, not really.

This is interesting indeed. I can get my cvt mt shasta unzipped and opened in 2 minutes or less. It takes a little bit longer to drop some leveling blocks down under the correct wheel(s) and get it level. I have level indicators on my bed rack and each increment equals 1" of lift needed on specific wheels. Pretty quick and easy. I beat everyone I camp with every single time on setup.

Seriously that's no joke. It keeps me from going too deep in the cooler just knowing that. They should make that a selling point.

Originally not Expo AF! Kinda Expo AF now...lame.
I'm leaning RTT but have always been fine on the ground. In fact, for solo trips I rock a $25 academy 3 person tent (dome shaped). Slept right thought a windy rainstorm, ironically more water resistant than my Big Agnes expensive tent.

    Nice looking XJ btw.
