Have about 100 miles on them. Was not aware that you needed to use a spring compressor to adjust the preload and I ended up damaging the preload rings. I have used Icon and Kings in the past and have always adjusted on the vehicle.

Just got them back from downsouth motorsports after having them replace the preload rings. They were able to navigate the preload ring past the damaged threads.

The top 1" or so of thread have some damage from trying to force the preload ring while clamped. They are still serviceable as I just had the preload rings replaced.

Also has quite a few little nicks on them from being careless while installing/uninstalling.

Local Pick up preferred. San Diego.

    Any questions let me know.

Negative, you do need(recommends) a spring compressor to adjust preload on these Fox's.
This is the reason the original preload ring and some of the top threads got a little damage.
Plus the fact that I have a 3rd gen and really needed to crank the preload down to match my dakars in the rear.
I should have opted for 650# coils but was not aware of the weight difference at the time.

That's what I thought too. You just take the weight off of them, and loosen that Allen then twist with a spanner right?

I've never ever needed to compress my Foxes to adjust the springs. I just lifted the truck up and get the full droop, spray some dry lube, loosen the allen screw and adjust as I have several times and that's with the resi in the way too.

I hear ya, but after talking with Fox Service about my initial issues they blamed not compressing the coils. The local off-road shop that replaced my preload rings also told me they always compress Fox's when they adjust preload. On both my previous Icons and current Kings I have not used a spring compressor and have been able to adjust with relative ease.

I like how they contradict themselves. According to their manual, they tell you to lift the truck up and properly support it then loosen the pinch bolt and use their spanner wrench to adjust. Then they tell you it's highly recommended but not required to use a spring compressor if you plan to make any pre load adjustment.

Kinda covering their own asses if you screw up their products lol.

Pretty much exact cap nut design as kings or any other coilover so wouldn't be any different adjusting than with other brands. Just insurance for fox. People just loosen set screw too much and I understand shit happens. But i would be pretty surprised if a shop like dsm installed a suspension kit and the customer said "id like it a 3/8" higher'. That the shop would say no problem let me get it back on rack, remove sway bar and coilovers put in spring compressor and reinstall everytime a customer didnt like stance. Either way this is a sold deal glws

For sure, doesn't make sense to have to rip it all apart for minor adjustments. Fox told me I may have been skipping threads by not compressing, due to the force it took to spin the preload. DSM reiterated it when I was explaining the damage to them. Loosening the screw too much may have been the real issue I faced, considering Fox's threads are not nearly as pronounced as my Kings. Thanks for the insight.

I bought a set of these a few months ago and was able to adjust them in my driveway. Just need to jack the truck up, loosen the allen head bolt, and use a spanner wrench to turn it.
